  1. Another Hijacked thread. Great Job, Held! Fun to watch and plays hard all the time.
  2. I'll start by saying that Scott competed pretty well. Not a lot of defense going on in the Ville last night(156 total points in 32 minutes). Samsel had a lot of open looks and did what shooters do, she knocked em' down. And the whole team was making shots-over 50% overall and close to 50% from the three point line....Sacred Heart has a whole bunch of players who can handle the ball, and some athletic players that make you work hard on every possession, and they get after the boards well. Then they have Berger for Showtime. Just a real impressive player who obviously works hard on her game. Saw her two years ago and again last year, and every time she's better. More skilled each year, more physically imposing each year, and still a lot of upside potential with her game. If this team can sneak out of the 7th, they could contend in the Sweet Sixteen....and probably for the following two years as well...
  3. You may be thinking of Dant. She has been mostly out since December, in for only a couple of games.
  4. 8 boards in limited playing time. I know a couple of teams that could use that kind of non factor!
  5. The CC head coach got Tee'd up at the very end of the game. Does anyone know what the penalty is for this technical, if anything,?
  6. Soooo, anyway, this was a really good game! Were there some crazed parents yelling at the refs?!?:wave:Sure, but we're just trying to help! Overall, I thought it was fairly officiated and they had control of the game. Most of the game had CC on top(up 6 at half) and up two after 3rd(courtesy of a nice baseline jumper from Clos with a couple of seconds left in the third. The fourth quarter was nip and tuck. Came down to Clephane getting fouled with about 25 seconds left and making the first but missing the second but retaining the ball for Scott with an alternate possession tie-up. On the in-bounds, Clephane drives in for a sweet lefty lay-up. Without any timeouts left, CC looks a little confused and refuses to shoot or drive the lane until about 5 seconds left. Shot ends up on the short end of the iron and Scott rebounds for the win. This was a real showcase for former AAU teammates, CC's Schwarber (18pts and tenacious D), Clos (22pts and REAL high on the fun to watch factor), Scott's Stapleton having a great night from outside the arc(23pts) and Clephane with 24. All players in this game left it out on the floor. Family and Friends should be proud! In addition to the above, Dant comes "out of the boot" to give an angry effort on the boards, and Kallmeyer does the spark plug thing bringing huge energy. For CC, Jolly and Keeton were gettin' it done for the Camels. Both teams played a little sloppy but it is truly a fun brand of basketball to watch, with players flying up and down the court, many times with confounding turnovers both ways. Districts should be fun!
  7. Scott flys out of the gate on an 11-0 run, Conner closes the gap to 11-10, but then Scott pours it on and sails home with a surprisingly easy victory (up 7 after 1st, 13 at half, 17 after 3rd) against a deep and athletic Conner squad. Conner had very little relative success from outside(8 for 34 from 3pt land). Don't understand why they didn't force the issue inside a lot more, as they were very successful offensively when they posted up. Prior to the game Lexie Stapleton was recognized with her 1,000pt game ball and then she added another 16 points to her total during the game. Morgan Wagner continues to impress, with 12 pts., going 5 for 6 from the field, grabbing 5 rebounds, and hustling all over the floor. Anna Clephane was unstoppable. After a 29pt performance at Simon Kenton on Wednesday, she had a new career high with 33 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals, against the Cougars. Scott is looking forward to getting their Senior leaders back over the next week or two, and who knows, maybe make a run at Districts/Regionals. Scott 78, Conner 68 Conner (12-5)-Watts 1 1 3, Hurst 3 0 7, Jordan 5 0 11, McLemore 0 1 1, Hendricks 4 0 12, Gambrel 1 6 8, Roberts 1 0 3, Duncan 2 2 11, Connley 1 1 3, Burcham 2 0 5, Frye 2 0 4. Totals: 22 15 68. Scott (9-6)-Franxman 1 1 3, Secrist 3 0 6, Wagner 5 0 12, Clephane 11 11 33, Brown 2 4 8, Stapleton 4 6 16. Totals: 25 22 78. Halftime: S 34-21. 3-pointers: C 8 (Hendricks 4, Hurst, Jordan, Roberts, Burcham); S 4 (Stapleton 2, Wagner 2).
  8. What's great about the SK loyal is their love of a well-refereed game, but that never happens....Lose, blame the refs. Win, blame the refs. While a step back in time to the Naismith peach basket rules of basketball may satisfy some traditionalists, "the game right now" is just a little different and is called different at all levels(not just the girls game) than back in the day. Euro steps(and please help us define that, because what you saw last night from both Niece and Clephane were Euro steps) are a part of the game, and yeah, there are two steps. Defensive contact last night was not called on drives more than it was called. You say that game was not enjoyable to watch. What would please you? That was fun, as was last years game. These two teams clearly want to take it to each other and are giving 100%. They're running the floor and landing hard on the floor. You've got starters dissing opposing coaches on the pre-game handshakes, and you have players giving it Jim Harbaugh backslaps after the game. That's a lot of fun in my book. Can't wait till next year! But let's review your keys to the game from the previous thread....you had it pretty much down. Sk Limit Scott transition points and force them into jump shooters Scott had much less transitional opportunities than they should have-Stapleton and Wagner had pretty good nights from outside Limit drives to basket ----Clephane and Sechrist's athleticism was a real problem for SK in the first half. SK ultimately switched multiple players to chase Clephane around the court Move the ball on offense; to many open players not getting the ball thought this was ok, but it still is and still will be "the show" Rebound and attackBuckner should want to play this team every game! Career highs(?) in both points and rebounds. Made the difference in the final outcome Scott Prevent niece from getting into the lane not good. way too many easy ones for Niece Try to create turnovers with pressure and convert them to points should have gone full court from the outset. I get not doing if as they too thin on the bench Rebound ---not good, and a real Achilles heal for this team Allow Sk to be one dimensional on offensive end which will limit their offensive output----the lack of interior defense, coupled with their lack of rebounding is a real opportunity for improvement Again.....can't wait till next year!
  9. Wow! I hope this as great a story as it sounds. After 4 years of "eh" stats at Marquette, being "the" player at BG is so cool. I never saw Lauren play in high school, but was honored to see her a couple of times when she came back to town to play UC and Xavier. Was so impressed with this young woman's energy and hustle. When i talked briefly with her, was even more impressed by her as a person. I am sure she is bringing that same winning attitude and personality to her teammates. Papa must be very proud, and BGSU got a steal!
  10. Holy Cross obviously plays with a lot of heart and basketball smarts. That's awesome, and fun to watch, but it will only carry you so far. What they are missing this year is what Ryle has, which is athleticism and size. Ryle has potential. Good luck to both teams!
  11. they should win by 20. I think they will win, but have not shown a propensity to put teams away early, besides Bourbon. Common frustration in basketball, only playing well enough, and not playing your best.
  12. So....NDA Coach was on his best behavior? No "Supercalifragilisticexpeladocous" to the refs?
  13. Lady Eagles handle business today in a really nice fieldhouse. If you've never been there, this 10 year old facility is laid out! Anyway, the game was a relative snoozer as the Lady Eagles led by about 10 at the half, about 12 after three and then tried to figure out how to sit on a lead in the fourth..... Montgomery County played ok, but wasn't able to close the gap until the end of the game, and then it was too late. #14, Igo, an 8th grader, is a really solid player and already the Indians go to. She dropped, I would guess, 18 for the game, as well as handling 90% of point duties. Continued consistency for the Eagles from Stapleton with 23 and Clephane with 18. Wagner doing a solid job at the point. Got some nice work out of Franxman and Proffit in the paint(before this game they have been killed on the boards). This team certainly misses Kallmeyer(broken hand, out another 5-6 weeks), but are holding their own at this point in the season.
  14. IWU is better off today! Quality young lady! Good job, high five!
  15. Yes, Cooper had a great season, BUTTT, xyz, you should do your homework....you say Cooper would be going to state in "any region but 9, 6, or 7", but they also got their clocks cleaned by teams in the 8th, 10th , and 11th(3 different teams from this region). What seems to be let goooooo, is any basis in facts....
  16. This bylaw seems very antiquated today. With easy access to recording devices and programs like Periscope, and even Youtube, enforcement is difficult at best, and time is probably better served focusing on making your team better. I would understand if the focus of the recording was on an opponents coaching staff's signals (ala Spygate). I have to believe that the situation above is not unusual and that resourceful individuals will find a way to get tapes, and in the meantime, those policing these efforts will more often than not tick off a proud parent or grandparent vs capturing a "spy".
  17. Let's talk about the team picture. Why does everyone look so angry? Shouldn't it be fun?
  18. Congratulations Coach Klette! Wow! What great validation to have your colleagues and peers recognize and appreciate your talents! Great job turning a potential down year into a better record than last year!
