  1. Unless one or more of Mason's starting five doesn't come back, they need to be 1 or 2 in the region. Can you say Senior Leadership? What do you know that would have a team that was 27-4 last year drop to 4th in the region?
  2. it appears the "Kues" is out of the bag! Prep Sports Notebook: Former basketball coach restarts career after seven-year layoff | NKyTribune
  3. Good for the player and the family, not so good for teams playing against SK this year. This will happen and she is awesome.
  4. She would be so much fun to watch. Small in stature, but incredible quickness and jaw-dropping hops. I would say best pure female athlete in NKY is a fair statement. Just don't think basketball will happen. Too much opportunity as a track athlete.
  5. Best team in the State? You have to respect the Butler juggernaut! 2 championships in the last 3 years? Returning the starting rotation? Wow! I haven't seen the team play but Murray finished 35-2 last year(losing to State Champ Butler) and returns their top 5 scorers, including three great rising juniors who played together this summer(Burpo, Mayes and the amazing Turley) as well as Senior Waldrop.....they will be a really tough out.
  6. I never defended the "greatness". I would like to see a division system in KY. "Crutch" is your term for statistics(facts). Irony? I don't think so.
  7. It's a numbers game. You have a 50% larger population in Indiana than you do in KY. That means your pool of talent is 50% larger. You should win most years when you have that much more potential for talent. It's the same reason why larger high schools have a tendency to win more championships and smaller schools don't, unless, of course, they have access to more talent unnaturally. From a state vs. state perspective, this size advantage is harder to overcome.
  8. Awesome! Great School, Great young lady! Did you know that the current Governor of Indiana is a Hanover Alum?
  9. "THE COMMITTEE" members have all tired themselves out defending a position that really appears to not only be incredibly wrong, but also appears to be egotistical("we know better than everyone else"), and also vindictive("see, all you folks who thought she should be PLAYER OF THE YEAR, she didn't even make our list"). Creech was a super easy pick, but y'all outthunk yourselves. Sad.... Again, how do i get on THE COMMITTEE for next year? Cuz if i get on there, that must mean I'm smart. Then again, maybe this is just brilliant marketing! Here's the scenario at THE COMMITTEE meeting....."guys, guys, hey we make more money when we have more activity, so let's leave off an obvious and easy choice that incite the masses so that we have more posters, more traffic, and ergo, more money." Nah, that's giving THE COMMITTEE way too much credit.
  10. So what were the parameters of how "THE COMMITTEE" considered Creech? And how do you know that? Are you on the committee? How/where is THE COMMITTEE headquartered? How do we know that what is published in BGP is actually what the members of THE COMMITTEE voted for, or was it more of a "hey, give me your votes and I'll post my version, because its a secret ballot?" I'm looking at chain of custody of ballots here. And if it isn't a secret ballot, then you should publish who voted for whom, right? What was the criteria basis for selection? Certainly wasn't "stat based". Was diversity a consideration(geographic, public/private, other)? Blue Schools vs. Red Schools? The BGP dues paying members want to know, since we are members but were not invited to the selection process. This is a problem with these types of teams/selection processes. Everything is secret. Just like the government. Most importantly, how do I get on THE COMMITTEE for next year?
  11. Agreed. But the overall message of negativity-"just another example of a public school trying to overcome their own shortcomings", etc.- begs the institution to try the best they can to control the message (not necessarily to squash it). Everyone has their preconceived notions of what happened, who did what right, who did what wrong.... You know what you have seen in a short video and heard from the ratings controlled media. Have you determined that you have enough information to appreciate THE truth of this situation?
  12. ok, and that makes them different from businesses, families, individuals, how? Sharing things with the public gives you an automatic ticket to BGP forums, and maybe even worse.
  13. And you are the problem! What if a male teacher grabs one of the female participants allegedly inappropriately to break up the fight? If/when the teachers do get involved, the parents can also then call their lawyers. The litigious society we live in creates a culture where we have to think, think some more, and then overthink all the consequences of our actions and in many cases, not getting involved is safer for your career than getting involved. These teachers/administrators/aides/SRO's are in very tough situations.
  14. Facebook is where i get all my facts! Geez, Joe, how much room you guys have down there in Independence?
  15. Got to hand it to CC. Great season! Final 8 is an awesome achievement.
  16. DF1!!! Busted! OMG, you got me! I LOVE your post! There are so many things that I agree with! 1)Your “puzzled”! I agree 2)you “don’t know”! again, I agree 3)you “guess” you’re “a homer”! 3 for 3 It was a brilliant catch on your part, to actually care who voted for what at 1:47AM….And how magnanimous of you to abstain from the vote….was it the “hah, here in the 8th we have no need for such silly balloting”…..I should have done the same when I voted for Owen County over SK(I didn’t ask how many points you are laying, so my bad, I guess I'm not a gambler either). My kid doesn’t talk to me for weeks on end now, so maybe I show her and I get the sarcastic, “thanks a lot, Dad”….It would be something, right? Ok, reality check time. What is BGP “Girls Basketball” thread posters/lurkers composed of: 75%-Players Parents 15%-Assistant Coaches who have little birdies telling them things 20%(yes, I know the math)-X- Youth Coaches who “yeah but” and “I don’t understand” every coaching decision from Calipari to Calvary... 1%-Players whose parents call them over and say “see what they said about you”?(BTW-These are not good parents) So- if you segment this group further what do you get? You get a whole lot of Kenton, Mason and Campbell County(Sorry Boone) folks with “L’s” on their foreheads who have nothing better to do with their paltry existences(guilty) than post smack 24/7 about a game that mostly, they are bystanders in. We’re here to wash the uniforms, give them a hug, and give them $10 for BW’s after the game. So whether your posts are positive for the young ladies who actually go out and compete, or like so many are chock-full of schadenfreude(every dweller south of the Fun Center at Paradise Isle will need to look that one up) AND ulterior motives, remember IT’S JUST A GAME. At the end of the day BGP is no more than an opportunity to hear and be heard at either 1:47am or 2 in the afternoon. May the girls play hard, have fun, and stay healthy! (how’s that for high-minded?). The Mic has been dropped…
  17. High quality young lady who will do well at IWU and in life!
  18. Two Things-1)that this is Conner's biggest win of the season(and i agree with this statement), is a shame. The team has too many athletes and too much talent to not have picked off a few more of the quality teams they played this year. 2)From what I witnessed, it's because they are coached and complacent to park it outside, pass around the perimeter and shoot 3's all day long. Very little effort to work the ball down low and score from the interior(or at least work it inside out to open up the three) and not enough driving the basket with their athletes. I really think this team can be good, but throwing up an average of 22 threes a game at 27%, is, IMO not a winning strategy against quality teams.
  19. Anna Clephane joins the 1,000 point club during a victory against Bishop Brossart. If you haven't seen her play, you should. HUGE upside.
  20. Mason gave a great team effort. They pass well, rebound well, and really shoot well when they need to....tonight that meant Quarters 1 and 3. Scott needs to go back to spelling class and learn D-E-F-E-N-S-E and R-E-B-O-U-N-D... Clephane dominated.
  21. Beating CC on their home court must have sapped their superpowers;)
