In case anybody is interested in anything else that has to do with this game except for the arguments going on here, Shelby Harmeyer led SK with 14 pts.

From what I gather Clyde, are you an official? If so, if a coach in the heat of the moment says to you (word by word) " that call was crap!" Would that be grounds for you to T him up? Not trying to start anything at all, just asking. Because I know for a fact those were the words out of his mouth on Saturday. I also know from my 16 yrs of coaching some officials have a chip on their shoulders sometimes due to past history with a particular coach, or for whatever reason, and seem to be waiting for that coach to say 1 thing.

B Not going to argue the officiating. Welcome to the 8th region. But the officiating in this game compared to what SK and NDA endured the game before was a lot better believe me. To be honest, I felt like if SK could keep it within 10 pts. Even in a loss, I would consider it good and move on. It's true HC probably didn't play their best in this game, but I will go out on a limb and say SK didn't either. Many unforced errors, bad shot selection at times, and lazy defense at times. Boys, this very young team is only in the early stages of playing as a team. When it actually does, it's gonna be something to see. It may not happen, but I'm banking on the the fact that it will. The fact that they have played 3 veteran teams close is a testament to the talent and coaching in this program.

N Very accurate account of the game. Just a thing or 2 to add; Harmeyer's career high is 30 pts. The thing a lot of people in NKY don't know is that she is in her 3rd yr as a varsity starter and only a sophomore. While at Grant County she lead the team in virtually every offensive catagory, and also in rebounding. She was in the top 15 in the 8th region in rebounding last season, and among the top in free throw percentage. She was also All District Tournament team last season. She also was listed as a the 3rd or 4th leading scorer in the freshman group according to the GNBA website this past summer.

B No, they were beaten, nothing just snuck away, except HC's win streak. Was a very fun game to watch.

Just my opinion..but somebody's gotta pay for SK's tough loss and somewhat subpar performance last evening,and the tail chewing session they probably went through at practice, and unfortunately NDA is next in line. It will be interesting to see how SK responds.. SK by 17.

B er One thing to add: One of the 3 sophomores, Harmeyer, is the transfer from Grant. She started varsity in 8th and 9th grade. So she's not just a good JV player that is getting an opportunity. She has experience. Her 11.5 ppg and 5.5 rpg, FT 75% .and FG 42% ranked up there among the leaders last yr. She enters her sophomore season with 415 varsity pts. Only time will tell if things work out for her in this new environment, but I see it working out well

100% correct on the elbows.. But I haven't seen any comments on here supporting that kind of behavior. What I did see and agree with is that the refs need to take control BEFORE it gets to that point. I know these scrimmages are kind of "practice" for them too, but if I'm correct they do get paid for being there and should treat it like a regular game. It looked at times like a typical game at SOAS if you know what I mean

N As for the basketball part of the game... SK won the first 8 min. By 5 or 6. The second 8 min saw them use a lot of the bench and SK won by 2. The 3rd 8min is where things got a bit physical and the episode happened as stated above. Haven't been around 10th region refs much at all, but a lot of the calls and "non calls" kind of put me in mind of a good old down home 8th region game at Gallitin or Oldham.LOL IMO it wasn't the physicality of play that upset coach Stowers, but the very obvious one sidedness on the part of the officials at times. But that is a whole other topic that I'm sure will be visited again and again as always... SK did lose that period by 1. Actually that period seemed to wake up SK and they reeled off the first 12pts of the final period and won it by 12 or 14. Brossart does have a tough scrappy team. What they lack in size and talent they make up for in hustle and toughness.

The thing you should look at is both games they played last year. The first game that they played Martin had 4 pts. And 5 Rebs against Meier, Before all the leg problems. Not taking anything away from Martin because she is a good player, just saying there was a difference between a healthy Meier and the one that hobbled to the finish line last year.

I have to agree with what seems to be the sentiment on BGP that Ryle is going to have to show me before I would rank them that high. But then again, as has been stated over and over again, a preseason poll is what it is... Quite a few questions will get answered in a few short weeks! Can't wait!

One thing that dawned on me today when I saw the saw the rankings was that Meier pretty much shut down McCune, the big girl Manuel has that has committed to West Virginia.

Krohman will definitely be missed.. Good ball handler and pretty tough defender.. I hope she returns at some point also..but life goes on. Yes they do have a very tough schedule. But what I liked hearing from the coaching staff was to be the best you have to play the best. The mentality of the program is that the first 26 or so games, ( or scrimmages as I've heard them called), are to prepare them for the games that count, eg: districts and hopefully regional and State. Pretty good concept IMO..

Definitely Harmeyer potentially, Gilliam- I tend to agree with Pioneer.Pride's assessment below. Based on what I saw over the summer in AAU/GNBA ball, Buckner is coming into her own. She could be the "X" factor this season. Again, just my opinion of the team..I'm not the coach...I have no input who starts or plays,just conversation! LOL

Ok.. For the sake of getting this one started here goes: IMO.. That key word "IF" IF this team gels and plays team ball they will be hard to beat. IF they are all on their "A" game at the same time NOBODY beats them. IF this team stays healthy and at least one of the 2 above factors come to pass they should be playing in the sweet 16 a couple of miles up the road in March. They have outstanding coaching. The top 7-9 players on the team have a lot of big game experience eg: State tourney, AAU, EBYL, USJN and GNBA. They can score inside and out, forcing opponents to "pick their poison" as to which player they want to choose to defend because you can't double every player on the floor at the same time. The scariest thing of all is that the core of this team will be together for the next 3 years. By this season's end all 5 starters could be worthy of All Region consideration, and 2 or 3 possibly All State consideration. Again, this is just my opinion so please take it in that vein
