  1. Whoever wins this game it will be good to see Owen in the regional after the last few yrs. they've had. Great job ladies!
  2. How is Cooper even an afterthought in this conversation? And if the Courier journal feels that there aren't better teams than Cooper out of the rest of the 9th region, they need to just keep writing about the metro teams down there. As for pick 1, I would love to see that game, p2 & p3, I agree with because looking at their schedules, Anderson and Shelby haven't played many quality opponents. As for p4, I agree only because of Martin coming around for NDA. If not for that they lose to WV for sure. Don't like either team in p5. Agree with p6 but I still think people think HC is the same team as last year..not even close. Agree with pk 7 because Collins is another team that doesn't play anyone. Totally disagree with p8, Refer to my opening comment on this post.
  3. Just some numbers.. HHS/SK vs. "like" opponents; HHS 7-5 win/loss margin +98 SK 10-2 win/loss margin +145 Overall numbers; HHS 19-10 pts for- 1564 pts against-1221 SK 20-5 pts for- 1567 pts against- 1303
  4. You know, now that you mention it, I must have overlooked the basketball state championship trophy case at HHS the last time I was there...I couldn't resist....
  5. First let me congratulate miss Ally on the 2000..to accomplish that with a bullseye on your back night after night is extraordinary! 2nd, to both teams for playing a great game, and 3rd to the birds who never gave up...which brings me to my final point... In the first half there were only 2 officials on the floor, for whatever reason in the 1st half. In the 2nd half there were 3 officials. The guy, whose name escapes me has been talked about before on this forum on his questionable/bad calls, by many people. In the 1st half SK had 6 or seven team fouls I believe. In the 2nd half they had probably 14 team fouls, the majority called by this guy. Fortunately, he isn't bias as he called quite a few on the birds as well. While I agree that SK stopped attacking the basket and was sloppy at times with their passing, and the birds upped the defensive pressure and shot better in the second half, I think this particular official changed the dynamics of the game as well. Again not taking anything away from a great win for SK or the birds spirited comeback.
  6. There are many valid points on these posts.. But RCC hit the nail on the head.. Other than a move to a different city or district, IMO the choice should be THE ATHLETE'S, not mom or dad, unless there are certain circumstances in the school or program that would warrant a transfer. I think many parents feel like their child isn't capable of making many, if any decisions on their own. In some cases and situations, I'm sure they are probably correct. But I think that sometimes we as parents miss golden opportunities to teach our children good LIFE lessons, like learning how to make informed decisions and that when they do make that decision, they must live with consequences, good or bad. I'm not saying we as parents shouldn't be there to guide or lend our advice or offer our own experiences in life as an example to them. We need to raise this generation of kids to be strong, intelligent adults who don't depend on others to make it through life.
  7. It depends on which team shows up on both sides. Both teams are capable of blowing the other out of the gym..I don't think that happens and it should be a really good game.
  8. This is how it reads in the KHSAA rules as it pertains to district touraments; In the case of a three-way tie for the district winning position, the tie would be resolved in the following manner. If any of the tie-breakers results in one of the teams being ahead of the other two, the tie is broken. If any of the tie-breakers result in two teams remaining ahead of the third, then the two-way tie breaker shall be used to determine the winner between those two. (1) In districts that have decided to play each other only once in district play, the tie shall be broken by blind draw. The team drawn first in the draw shall be considered the highest seed (one seed). It does go on to say that some districts have set their own rules for seeding, so I guess this is just a template to use...so who knows? I personally hope SK beats Williamstown and this will all be a moog point! Lol
  9. I sat here and read this post quite a few times. I tried to resist the urge to comment but it's just too strong! First of all, I agree with the majority of the opinions in this post. However I'm kind of puzzled by the comments about Harmeyer. While I agree that I too would like to see her drive more and shoot some higher percentage shots when the 3's aren't falling, and also it would get her to the free throw line more (where she's shooting 82.1% BTW, pretty consistent I would say), she is shooting 38.5% from the field overall, 39.7% since coming back from the injury. She has had a few off nights since returning, but show me any player that hasn't had a bad game here or there from youth leagues to the pros. And she has been doing this from what I was told(shooting the 3's) per what she was told to do by her coaches. All and all, I would love to have a team with a starting 5 that each averaged 12.5 ppg. 5.5 Rebs and shot 82% from the charity stripe, along with playing decent defense, having good basketball IQ's, and being team players. So I guess my question would be what more do you want out of a 15 yr old sophomore?
  10. What you say is true. Appeared to be a leg or ankle injury, saw her walking around after the game and appeared to be ok.. However, the score was something like 20-9 when she left the game. I like her as a player, but IMO it wouldn't have mattered tonight. SK starters only played about 2 1/2 Qtrs.
  11. Final from Alexandria. SK came out firing on all cylinders in this one, as it was pretty much over from the start. Nice outside in game as Meier dominated the paint. Good ball movement and a monster number of 3's.
  12. Final from Independence. The Lady Pioneers improve to 14-5 on the season and 7-1 vs. the 9th region with the win over the Cougers. Madi Meier led SK with 21pts.
  13. SK shot 57.4% from the field, including 46.7% behind the arc, and 13-15 from the stripe.
  14. I am with you as far as not knowing enough to completely understand the rankings. As far as SK is concerned, I think strength of schedule comes into play. They have lost 5 games so far this season, To numbers 1, 7, 10, 14, and 17 in the rankings. The only blowout was Etown, who has been blowing out everyone (at least instate). Not sure why they would be ranked ahead of Lincoln Co. And Ryle. Like you said, some nice talking points but doesn't mean anything at the end of the day. We'll see you in a few weeks!
  15. Final from Independence. Scoring: Simon Kenton- Buckner 11, Gilliam 3, Harmeyer 27, M. Jones 2, Meier 6, Neice 30, Stamper 3. Boone County- unavailable, all though I believe Saner had 31pts.
  16. I also would love to see more movement on the floor.. Too much standing around at times IMO
  17. 2 things; 1) I think you maybe be surprised by the shots taken in the paint in this box score. But also quite a few of the TO's were either errant passes into the paint or the ball just simply not being controlled underneath. 2) this team IMO needs to learn the advantages of skip passing and kick outs on drives to the basket and from the post. If the post player gets the ball in the low block and is cut off from the basket, and the defense is packed in which they normally are against this team because of Meier's presence, the kick out is almost always open, instead of forcing up a shot. Mason is very good at that.
  18. Mason wins in double OT 66-64..GREAT GAME! The refs took it away from the teams in the end...just saying
