  1. I was there and they played great in the pool games and the first 2 games of bracket play but then the wheels fell off.. shining star 8th - Jones was a carbon copy of legacy. Both teams finished 4th overall in their divisions. Northern Kentucky was represented well In Orlando last week.
  2. You make a valid point.. it is crazy sometimes to watch how tight refs call high school games, but then a.lot of times you see the same refs calling the AAU games and they let them basically beat each other to death! Either way the refs should never dictate the outcome. But sometimes they do and it is the bench players that determine the outcome.
  3. They had debated on playing D1 and opted to play D2 for 1 more year mostly because there were 3 to 4 new players on the team. I agree with it because it does take a little while to mesh. This is probably one area legacy has an advantage over this team in that the elite group has pretty much been the same for the last 3 years. Plus if you have been to the nationals there's not much of a gap at all between D1 and the top 10 to 15 in D2 at this level. It seems to widen each year once they hit 9th grade on up.
  4. If you are talking about Legacy 8th and Shining star 8th, NO they have not played. Legacy is playing D1 at nationals next week in OrlandoI've been told and Star is playing D2. I was also told they both are playing in Washington DC at the end of the month. So maybe that's where they will finally get to meet. I think it would be a great game.
  5. What I meant to say was I would be happy if they could just be good enough to be competitive somewhere in the middle of the pack every year and not be the door mat of the SEC lol
  6. Just a Random thought....With 6 of the 50 winningest high school programs in the country right here in our state, why can't UK seem to be able to turn the corner and consistently field a competitive program? I have no illusions of them being an Alabama or a Ohio St. but just being able to compete somewhere in the " upper middle" of the pack year in and year out!
  7. First of all, nowhere in the comments that I made did I say Grant WOULD win the region. All I said was that they may be able to compete at that level in a couple of years with the group of younger players they have. Secondly, I am sorry you took offense to the choice of words I used to describe some of their wins. I am well aware of many of the schools playing 7th, 8th graders and freshman up on JV& VARSITY, thus thinning the talent at the 9th grade level. Grant is no different except for the fact that they did it out of necessity and not choice. I wasn't trying to downgrade the teams I mentioned. My daughter plays AAU ball with, and is friends with many of the girls on those teams. I respect the programs at SK WV and SHHS. I do not for the life of me understand why the powers that be thought it a good idea to put SK in the 8th or Scott in the 10th but that's a different discussion LOL.
  8. Yes they did lose the Martin girl. She is at NDA. But there is a lot of good young talent coming up. Their biggest issue is with their bigs. They need one of them to step up and own the middle.
  9. Shelby Harmeyer incoming freshman at Grant Co. Started varsity last yr as an 8th grader. Plays AAU for Shining star 2018 Jones.
  10. Though not quite ready to compete for the 8th region title, Grant Co. Is up and coming. This year they will be led by senior Macy Wright (all 8th region), and Shelby Harmeyer who started varsity last yr as an 8th grader. That coupled with a strong sophomore class that went 15-4 as freshmen , including beat downs of SK , WV, and St . Henry frosh to name a few, the future looks bright down in th country!
  11. This team is very good However, there is a team in Northern Ky. That is very similar talent wise at their grade level. The team is made up of 5 players from SK, 2 from Grant County, 1 from Holmes, and 1 from St.Ursela (Oh.) I really hope to see them play each other soon.
