  1. All the public schools would institute a daily mass into their schedules and have the Arch Bishop bless the gyms!
  2. I know we don't get any love south of the Walton exit in NKY, but one to watch for Grant County is Taylor Souder SS. Tough as nails, rocket arm, swings A big stick
  3. Just wondering..is this just for seniors? Why were there no players from the 5th, 8th, and 11th region there?
  4. Great job SK! Go down to state and represent the 8th region and the 32 nd District well. Special shout out to all the Shining Star girls!
  5. Congrats to coach Stowers, coach O and the ladies on a great win! Good luck in the Finals
  6. My daughter got an invite. It says they split up the classes 9th vs. 9th grade, 10th vs. 10th etc...
  7. I WOW..awesome response! What you described must be a trend with schools that have the initials GC!!:deadhorse
  8. Agree with you...there's a few more that come to mind that aren't on here...1 you and I discussed, but I guess once again numbers mean nothing;)
  9. If you all are finished.. Here is the 32nd District All Tournament Team: Shelby Harmeyer- Grant County Katie Cheek- Williamstown Haley Ison- Walton Morgan Simpson-Walton Madi Meier- SK Maggie Bosse-SK Alison Neace- tourney MVP
  10. final from Dry Ridge. The best thing I will say about this game is the officiating was actually decent for once. It was a bit physical but they let the girls play. Frankfort center Turpin led all scoers with 30. pShelby Harmeyer led Grant with 12pts.
  11. The cornbread dude definitely needs to hang it up. I'm telling you, and as I've stated before on these threads, I just want to see a game where the refs don't take over the game!! This was my first chance to see the Dossette girl play and they took her and the Bowen girl out of it early with ignorant non foul calls. But they kept it close with calling so many bogus calls the other way. The cornbread guy didn't really call anything because I don't think he can see anything. This other guy though was so blatantly bias, that even some of Gallatin's parents said so. This was a 2 point game near the end and the Dossette girl tried to make a block on the baseline, never touched the ball, absolutely hacked the Grant player,knocked her down and ended up on top of her, all in front of this guy, and I mean RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM! No call at all.. Did I mention it would have been her 5th foul? I don't take anything away from Gallatin they won and I congratulate them. But someone should send in the Hudl video to KHSAA to review.. I'm sure they would use it as a training vid about how not to referee a game. I've watched it again just to make sure I wasn't imagining things and I wasn't.
  12. :dancingpa :clap::clap::clap::clap::clap: that's rich!LOL
  13. Congratulations. They have a nice team. Too bad the refs (cornbread and Alexander) especially the latter had to ruin the game.
  14. IMO Grant's biggest problem is WAY TOO MANY TURNOVERS- ESPECIALLY UNFORCED TURNOVERS. Game after game a player will make a "highlight reel" play and they or another player will then turn right around and do something- travel, lose the ball, throw it away etc... this team with the exception of roughly 4 games where they weren't in the game and were blown out, could easily be 17-4. Many of the games that were lost (at least 5) they had a lead in the 4th Qtr. and some they led most if not all the way till the end. And the reason is IMO all the turnovers. I would say it's because of the youthfulness of the team, but the stats show otherwise.
  15. Final from Walton. Braves' only lead in game was first basket of the game. Walton controlled from that Point forward. Again, another horrible game by the officials, but at least terrible on both sides so there was consistentcy I guess... But Walton did play a very good game. Good defense, good perimeter shooting. Hailey Ison another nice game, 21 pts; found out after the game that she is 4 pts away from 1000. Would have loved to witness it. Good player, shows class on the court. Mills and Simpson also had nice games. Dark horse in game IMO was Dezarn. Seen her play quite a few times, this was best game I've seen her play. Don't have stats on Walton, but for GC Wright with 14 and Harmeyer with 12.
  16. I would tend to agree with you. However, I believe that it's got a lot to do with some (not all) of the coaches in the different sports in the high schools. Most have off season workouts, conditioning, skills training etc.. that start a few days to just weeks after their season ends. And I know first hand and have also been told of coaches that look at the kids that don't participate for whatever reason, (playing another sport-just taking time off-working etc..) as not being committed. But it's not like this is something new.. I had a brother-inlaw that was a stud basketball player in the mid '90s and also a very good football and baseball player that was told by the head basketball coach at the high school (rhymes with Mov. Math. Lol) to give up the other 2 sports or he couldn't use him. He didn't and won a state football championship and was all region in baseball. So I think a lot of the high school coaches are putting pressure on some of these kids to pick 1 sport sometimes. You are right in that some kids do focus on one sport in hopes of getting a scholarship, but there are some (my daughter) that choose to focus on 1 sport purely for the love of the game. She does have aspirations of playing college ball, so she chooses to work on her game year round to better herself. My wife and I support her 100% because it's HER CHOICE..
