  1. After being around this for a few years and seeing what I've seen, nothing would shock me too much. Lol
  2. So it's voted on by all the coaches in he state? Who knows what happens then after seeing some of the All Region picks in some of the regions. One good thing is since it seems to be a 2 horse race there won't be as much politics and back scratching involved..
  3. LIKE your post... I think one thing that is different, let's use TC and SK for example. I would hazard to guess that probably 70 to 80% of the people in Bedford were born and raised there. There is probably a legacy of 3 or maybe more generations of families that were born there, went to school there, go to same churches, etc. I have found this time and time again in smaller, more less rural communities. Don't get me wrong..I think it's awesome, just like I thought it was awesome to see the community come and support the girls during the Regional tournament. You have a little bit of that in a community like Independence, but no where close to towns like Bedford. I would say the percentages are reversed. Most families are transplants for work reasons, or the fact it is just a nice area to live and raise a family, but aren't connected to the school. I too am disappointed that there is not more support from the close to 1800 student population, especially since most of them live within 5 miles of the school. I have seen this community pull together for special events or to support a cause.
  4. Not to mention I have no input on who they schedule or what their feelings are about certain teams
  5. First of all I'm not trying to sell anything. And as for the comments about scheduling, I was just stating what I was told. I still think that its a good concept. As far as whether Trimble would be a 2nd tier team, in my mind no obviously because of their record and what they have accomplished. But honestly, last night was the first time in my life that I have ever seen TC play. So I would not have had an opinion on them. Not sure if you are trying to bait me into saying who I would classify as "2nd tier" but I don't have to. All you have to do is look at the Region standings, or really any other region standings and make that judgement for yourself. They don't change that much from year to year.
  6. Oh no doubt I'm sure...like I said I just wanted to make the statement that the team and coaching staff did not underestimate their opponent. I personally would rather have faced Walton, only because SK seemed to have their number so to speak this year. And unfortunately, due to the way it is on BGP, I must make a disclaimer...I am in no way putting down or degrading WV😳
  7. If that's the case, I'm a little disappointed that they didn't participate in the prayer after the game. That's just the way I was brought up.
  8. VERY MUCH LIKE! I would have liked to have seen both teams out there a center court at that moment. Don't know if there was an open invitation or not, or maybe they wanted that time for themselves. I did see that happen after the semi final game.
  9. First of all, love your logo.. ROLL TIDE! The only thing I take exception to is the comment about SK underestimating their opponent. Many of the players have been in this position before, both in school ball and AAU, and this coaching staff is too good to allow that to happen. When a team is the reigning champion and picked to repeat since the end of last season, there is a lot of pressure to live up those expectations. plus when one looked at this matchup on paper, it didn't look like it would be much of a game. You had the reigning champs coming into this game riding a 12 game winning streak, playing lights out pressure defense and clicking on every cylinder. They had played the fewest number of games than any team in the tournament, and scored and averaged more points than any of the other 7 teams. BUT as many have stated in this forum, that's why they play the games. As far as the team goes, they did not underestimate their opponent.
  10. Just had to get back with you... Just to let you know, Shelby did start the entire season except for the 9 games she missed with a leg injury. Her stats: 12.6 ppg. 5.8 reb. 41.3 FG % 83.6FT% 7 3's in opening game of the regionals, all 8th region tournament team... I sincerely thank you for lighting her fire this season...if you want to comment on her again please do.. AAU starts in a few weeks and she can always use some motivation!
  11. Ok, here's my take...1st of all congrats to Trimble for winning the championship, and for defeating IMO the top 2 teams in the region on consecutive nights..a little Hoosiers like!! They played very hard and deserve credit. And the fan support was phenomenal! That's not to say SK did not. Anyone who has played or coached any sports at a competitive level knows that it takes skill, athleticism, and a little luck sometimes to be successful. For Example, would you bet the ranch that an 85%+ free throw shooter would miss 5 in a row and 8 out of 12? It just normally doesn't happen. I am in no way saying that's what lost the game for SK, but saying it was a very lucky break for TC. I could go on about the officiating ( which was very bad, even many TC fans said so also), but what's the difference? It's done and in the books. Many people on here know who I am and know where we came from. This was my daughter's first opportunity to experience playing in a regional tournament in 3 years of varsity play, and made the most of it. She was just greatful for the opportunity to be a part of it. And knowing that the entire team - 1 senior is back next year including the starting 5, I would expect nothing less than to be sitting here this time next year talking about this game again hopefully with a better outcome for our Lady Pioneers. Good luck to all that make the sweet 16!
  12. I guess all I can say is wow...Google is a great tool to look up big words...but how kryptonian of you to admit it ( you can google that word too).... And as for abstaining ( I'm on a roll with the big words!) from the voting, I did post that I am rooting for Mason to win in the 10th and SK in the 8th to see a rematch of a game that was certainly more interesting than the Scott/ SK game. I was only elucidating (oh.. There's another one!) a thought.. but since you decided to push the issue, why would you vote against your own kid's team? Actually, there's no need for you to answer that because that's your business and I really could care less. Your daughter is a very good player and could be very prodigious ( one more for ya) at the next level.
  13. One thing I find amusing, and I've noticed it time after time, is that a lot of folks on these forums use the cloak of invisibility (username) to rant or take pot shots at others from time to time. The problem with that is all someone has to do to see where a person's allegiance lies is look at their previous posts. And, when polls are posted on these forums, it is explicitly stated that everyone can see your vote. I'm just puzzled that a person would have a kid on a team, and cast their vote for the other team, especially in a big game such as this. I don't know, I guess I'm a homer, but even if I was a gambler I'd still bet on my "home team". Maybe the reason is motivation to be able to tell your player " see, all those people don't give you a chance in this game" or something like that. But the problem with that is I'm pretty sure most kids know their parents' usernames on here. My kid wouldn't talk to me for a week if she knew I voted against her team, she would take it personal. I'm not going to name any names or call anyone out, because they know who they are. I just found it odd...
  14. I'm rooting for MC in the 10th and SK in the 8th because I want to see part II of the battle in Jan.!
  15. SK probably would enjoy the trade also considering they were 8-1 vs. the 9th. And I assure you that they are playing light years better then they were the first game of the season, and I also hope you are right about the running clock!
  16. The first game seems to be running behind a little..my guess is 8:05 to 8:10 tip
  17. Great job tonight, thanks! We'll see you tomorrow night...GO SK!
  18. The way it was explained to me was that rather than fill the schedule with games against regional opponents, some that are on the "2nd tier" ( no disrespect to any of the teams in the region), they chose to try and fill it with the best competition the state had to offer, i.e. ETown, Mercer, Mason Co., Lincoln Co., all teams in the top 20 in the state. They feel to be the best you have to play the best, and it would also help them come tournament time. We will find out shortly if this philosophy works out!
  19. Be careful wireman, you can swallow your tongue with it so firmly in cheek...LOL
  20. Well hopefully we will get to see MC v SK part II in a couple of weeks Maysvilleky!
  21. They show 17 on their roster, including 5 seniors, a few Jrs. And sophomores. Why did they forfeit so many games?
