  1. I agree with most all of the assessments of this game..it is true that they need to do a little better at clock management late in games pertaining to shot selection. However, i know for a fact that almost every player is TOLD to shoot the ball if they are open..was the inside game the way to go in this game- given the fact the outside shots weren't falling and the domination of Meier inside, definitely. I would love to see more ball movement (which we have seen more of this year than in the past), more backdoor cuts. But again, eventhough sometimes it may look like "lazy offense" the players are doing what they were TOLD to do.
  2. Congrats to coach West and the Lady Braves...coach West always a class act!
  3. I swore I was gonna stay out of this but I would like some clarification...what do you mean when you said "unfair to the ones who have sacrificed"? That comment keeps sticking out to me.
  4. I have the feeling your comment was directed at my comment...I am ecstatic that everyone wants the ball this year and not putting the pressure on one or two to do the bulk of the scoring, as it is harder to stop 5 that will take it to the hole vs 2. I was just stating that the 2 from last season haven't IMO really played to their full potential in these first 3.
  5. Agree most of the comments on the thread..hopeful that the defensive exhibited on Wed. by SK becomes the norm and not exception. One factor in think may come into play is the fact that the top 2 scorers for SK from last season really haven't hit their stride yet. Hopefully this is the game they start getting cranked up.. I say SK by 5.
  6. In this one I think size and firepower are the deciding factors. If SK controls the paint it's a long night for the Pandas. SK had a rough day on the boards vs. Montini last weekend grabbing only 15 REBS for the entire game, as I'm sure most other teams have had the same problem against that team. The other factor is firepower (shooting). If Harmeyer, Jones, and Harney are on at the same time, NDA gets run out of their own gym. To complicate things more for the Pandas is that they need an answer for Niece. My guess is SK by 14+
  7. Ryle has a good young team with 2 good young players in Scherr and Shwartz..that being said I would be surprised if this game is close this year..as RCC9 said if it ends up being a close game then SK has alot of work to do to if they are to compete against the best in the state...SK by 15+
  8. Don't have the time or interest to play this game...
  9. In my opinion, this team is capable to play a very physical style of ball. The four or five black eyes that some of the girls have is evidence of that LOL... But they also have the capability to run and gun...the keys in my mind will be 1) the team's ability to recognize what the situation warrants as far as style of play and 2) I would be surprised to see them get out rebounded and they have to improve on finishing on 2nd and sometimes 3rd and 4th chances at the bucket and charity stripe.
  10. Next weekend should be a good test to see where they are right now. Should be a good test for Mercer as well.
  11. Congratulations to Owen County Sr. ALex Clifton committing to Alice Lloyd today!
  12. Won the 1st half by 7, lost the 2nd half by 6 so together W50-49...played without Niece, Buckner and Harney. Young girls stepped up and played well. Overall good effort vs. a very athletic team.
  13. Never said it wouldn't be harder. Never said anything about how they would fair if in the 9th. All I said was I wish they were back in the 9th like the old days. I would rather drive 10 fo 20 minutes to watch a region game than 2 hours. As far as schedules go, look at last season and the upcoming season schedules and show me a schedule in the state that's much tougher. And RCC9 I'm glad you realized it was just summer.
  14. I don't know anything about the speech you are speaking about and I agree about them having a shot at the tournament. The Harney deal is simply, to my understanding, is a guy who went through a family tragedy and wants to come home to be with them.. BTW they were 9-1 vs. the 9th region last season. And honestly I would love to see them back in the 9th.. Along with Scott and Campbell Co. Just like the old days. There were a lot of good rivalries then.
  15. I detect a bit of sarcasm in this post but that's ok...I can't speak for the others, but I imagine my daughter is one of those you speak of. I grew up in northern Ky. and my wife in Cincinnati. We spent 13 years in Grant Co. And we were both ready to get back up to NKY. Our jobs are here, families, alot of the kid's activities are up here. It just made sense for us to make the move up here. I'm not gonna lie and say basketball didn't have anything to do with where we decided to locate up here. SK is a great school and does have very good sports programs.
  16. Kind of easy to play 4 on the floor when 2 of your guards avg. over 5 rebs a game
  17. One little thing to throw in....My daughter was invited for to visit a D3 school in Ohio. We met the coaches and the team, toured the campus and the facilities, then they had us meet with an advisor. Of coarse we had some questions about different things, but I'll be honest, my biggest question was HOW MUCH? My answer...$39,000 a year. Tuition, books, room and board. My first thought was ok, moving on... But then the advisor showed us the endowments and other special academic scholarships worked. All of them are based on the students GPA and test (ACT) scores. In my daughter's case she would be eligible for somewhere in the neighborhood of $24,000 in scholarship money. This particular school also above and beyond that has an event for all incoming freshman where they have them write a resume as if they are applying for a job, and then a very simple interview with a panel of 3 professors. All this is voluntary but if they participate, the students are guaranteed at least $5000 in additional scholarship money up to $12,000! If my daughter was to score enough to receive the 12 grand, that would only leave about $3000-$5000, which can easily be taken care of with FASFA. So basically in my eyes and my daughter's eyes, that opens a new avenue of opportunity as far as basketball. You can ask anyone who knows me that I don't care what level my daughter plays at as long as she's happy and she gets a good education. I don't know how common this scenario is at other D3 institutions, but we are discovering more as we do our homework. So as some of the other previous posts have stated, many parents and their players shouldn't get so hung up on what level they play at.
  18. Agree...but how can they earn "it" if they don't get the opportunity to play against the best? How can one tell if a player is worthy of getting that opportunity or not if they don't even get an opportunity to compete for one of those spots against the players that currently hold those spots? That's the only thing I would really like to know.
