mcpapa Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Basketball season for 2015/2016 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from Simon Kenton? Remember, please be constructive.
Dixiefan1 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Ok.. For the sake of getting this one started here goes: IMO.. That key word "IF" IF this team gels and plays team ball they will be hard to beat. IF they are all on their "A" game at the same time NOBODY beats them. IF this team stays healthy and at least one of the 2 above factors come to pass they should be playing in the sweet 16 a couple of miles up the road in March. They have outstanding coaching. The top 7-9 players on the team have a lot of big game experience eg: State tourney, AAU, EBYL, USJN and GNBA. They can score inside and out, forcing opponents to "pick their poison" as to which player they want to choose to defend because you can't double every player on the floor at the same time. The scariest thing of all is that the core of this team will be together for the next 3 years. By this season's end all 5 starters could be worthy of All Region consideration, and 2 or 3 possibly All State consideration. Again, this is just my opinion so please take it in that vein
KentuckyJoe Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Lots of young talented guards on this team

RCC9 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 I know a lot of the young girls and they are going to be good! But who are the 5 potential all-region this year? Outside of the young girls, I have to admit, I've only heard of 3 of the girls. I assume you put Neice and Meier there, but who else are you thinking is potentially all-region this year?
uk#1fan Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 The roster I posted might be missing a few players. I know Cocco, Krohman and Harney played last year.
Pioneer.Pride Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 The roster I posted might be missing a few players. I know Cocco, Krohman and Harney played last year. I don't believe any of those came back. I know Harney had an injury that would not heal. Krohman not returning is a head scratcher. She was a key contributor on the defensive end. Harmeyer is the third all region candidate. She is the transfer from Grant County. I expect Gilliam to have a big year, but all region candidate is probably a stretch.
Lee42 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Krohman is a head scratcher. I hope at some point she returns to BB. Team has lots of potential especially with only 1 Sr on the roster. This and the next 2 yrs should have a good run especially with the 2 8th graders and the 7th grader coming up and helping. Going to be very deep the following 2yrs. Pretty tough schedule up front though.

Definitely Harmeyer potentially, Gilliam- I tend to agree with Pioneer.Pride's assessment below. Based on what I saw over the summer in AAU/GNBA ball, Buckner is coming into her own. She could be the "X" factor this season. Again, just my opinion of the team..I'm not the coach...I have no input who starts or plays, just conversation! LOL
RCC9 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 I like to keep up on the NKY kids. I have a SR and FR girl and was pretty active in AAU and know several players all the way down to 7th grade. I only recognized a few names. That's why I asked. I was surprised they would have that many all-region type players without a transfer or two that I wasn't aware of. Harmeyer seems to be one of those. I don't know her, but obviously Neice is one and Meier is another that is a candidate. I'm not super familiar with all the players in the 8th either, so I don't know everyone they would be up against. Good luck to all of them! We won't see them til late in the year.
Budman Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Megan Buckner really came into her own this summer. I expect that she will be a big contributor this year.

Yes they do have a very tough schedule. But what I liked hearing from the coaching staff was to be the best you have to play the best. The mentality of the program is that the first 26 or so games, ( or scrimmages as I've heard them called), are to prepare them for the games that count, eg: districts and hopefully regional and State. Pretty good concept IMO..
