Bryan Station lost the District championship tonight with this lost to Ballard

2nd 7th grade team for the Union Raiders to make the final 4 in 3 years, pretty good job. The last time it was the present undefeated Freshman class at Ryle that was there and lost a good game to Bowling Green. Good luck to the Raiders finish the deal this year. Great job!!

Hear so that I am proper and maybe you will be able to understand it better here it is straight out of the KHSAA handbook for this year. The opportunity to participate in regular season contests shall end at all levels of play (grades 9-12) on the Saturday preceding the first KHSAA Tournament (District, Region or State), with the exception that the varsity team may practice and play through its elimination from KHSAA sanctioned tournament play. Following elimination, there shall be no further practice or play during the remainder of the academic school year.

I was told that they had too many injuries at all levels and that they had a long bus trip on Friday night.

Now don't classify Scott Co in that mix like SK. Scott Co played the birds in 2012 and lost handily but it prepared them to take on the #1 team in the nation and lost 21-14. The Scott Co. JV played Highlands at Highlands last year and won fairly easy and since they are playing next year and the year after I don't think anyone is trying to avoid anyone. It would have been nice to see a JV as a measuring stick for next year. I am just going on what I have been told and nothing more. I am glad the Scott Co. kids get to play another game. They have been cancelled on 3 times this year.

In District 7 6A it looks like if Bryan Station beats Ballard then they win the district and Scott Co is 2nd. If Ballard beats Station then Scott Co wins the district and Station is 2nd. Henry Clay appears to be out of the equation and will finish 3rd either way.

Actually you can play on the last Saturday after the last regular season game. But not anytime the following week or there after the last Friday of the regular season.

I was told last night that Scott Co is going to play St. X because Highlands cancelled the game for this Saturday. I ask why they cancelled and he said that Highlands had too many injuries and had a long trip on Friday night. So it sounds like Scott Co has moved on to another opponent because Highlands could not play.

I was told that Scott Co. has had this happen to them 3 times already. Not fair to the kids who practice all week and then get cancelled on. Plus they are playing next year in varsity, it would be nice to see the JV game as a measuring stick to a degree. I was told Scott Co. beat Highlands last year on the last Saturday of the JV season as well. Not sure what happened but feel for the kids from both programs. My buddy said that Scott Co is undefeated and has ripped all the Lexington schools. I watch them play Lafayette and they are good won 56-12 I think, not sure it was over and I left at half time. Would have loved to see how the two powers played this Saturday but oh well guess we will have to wait until next year.

I had a buddy of mine tell me that. Makes since with the long trip. Mot sure why the new coach would do that either. My buddy told me that would be the third team that cancelled on Scott Co this year. I was posing the question based on the thread of the tradition at highlands and why they would cancel against a good opponent but did not know about the long trip scheduled.

Well I wait to Friday to post my picks. Computer at work would not let me post, so no picks I would have had 15 points and a decent lead going into the last week, instead I have blown my chance to win this years contest. Let's remember that Scott Co. held him to 58 yards. also I have seen Bell and I don't believe that Buford is quite on his level, yet.

So awesome to see the community step up and help out in a big way for friend and foe alike. Hope the SK kids play their best game tonight in the face of adversity. One note, it always amazes me how people step up and come together as a community in the face of tragedy, would love to imagine this type of love and support shown all the time, what a great world that would be to live in. This is awful. I hate to hear this. I feel for the SK players, hopefully they can get it together so they can focus on playing tomorrow night.

I agree and appreciate the clarification. I totally think that that it starts with the administration. I hate to see kids have to deal with lack of support NO matter if they win or lose. They are the brave souls that work everyday to be the best they can be and at the end of the day sometimes other teams are just better. I will say the last three years that they were embarrassed badly by the district opponents. I did some research on KHSAA: Siple- 3 years 2014 so far 1-6-1 with the 1 win over Owen whose record is 1-8 2013 1 win over Owen whose record was 2-8 2012 3 wins combined record of opponents they beat was 3-27 Arvin- 1 year 2011 3 wins record of opponents they beat was 6-24 Davis' last two years 2010 2 wins with record of opponents being 11-11 2009 3 wins with record of opponents being 10-20 Going back as far as I could on KHSAA, the only winning season they have had was 2007 and 2008. The only Head Coach to stay more than 4 years was Davis. That means that they have had 6 Head Coaches and only had football since 1993. If My math is right they have had football for 22 years and 6 head coaches one of which was there for 6 years so that leaves 5 for the other 15 years. NO ONE builds success that way. As far as the boosters, I have always heard bad things about that organization and on the Conner vs. Grant game thread it seem to confirm the same issues as the problem.

What garbage did the players put up with? Siple has been the head coach for 3 of these seniors 4 years. If you mean the losing then I guess there is a lot of garbage out there in the state of KY. I mean Somerset must be garbage if that is your take since they are 0-8. Not sure what you mean. I will say that even if he lost his starting job to not get to play in a game they lost by more than a TD is sad on the part of those involved UNLESS there is more to the story.

Some things that stood out to me: England and Powell have good stats, nothing wrong at all with their production. Now look at Henry Clay running back Buford. 11.2 yards per carry, on less attempts and 16 TD's. Or look at the two Scott Co running backs, Guy who is a Junior is averaging 19.5 yards a carry and 11 TD's and Price is averaging 11.9 yards a carry with 11 TD's. That is about 16 yards per carry between the two of them and 22 TD's. Look at the RB from Bullitt Central who SK has to play this week 1390 yards in 7 games and 21 TD ( that is impressive) Or look at another Junior RB in the state in Quenton Baker from Ashland has already been offered by UK similar carries avg. 10.2 YPC and 14 TD's and shares the backfield with a very nice running back in Jake Long. Or in NKY what about the WV kid William Latimore 16 YPC and 10 TD's and the Johnson Central RB with 14.3 YPC and 12 TD's. My point is that there are great high school RB in the state as well as the ones in question. They are very good contributors to their teams and have helped their teams win but I can assure you there is plenty that MAY be more talented. With Powell and England being Juniors then compare them to Guy(Scott Co.) and Baker (Ashland) will be in the same recruiting class as them. Not sure how many on the previous list I posted are juniors but is something fi you truly want to compare production. Best of luck to all the guys being talked about, I am sure your team is counting on you to have a big game and help them win.

I did some digging and have included some interesting numbers from all 6 classes and the top ten in stats in 6A. Comparing apples to oranges, styles of offense, etc. If you are the feature back of your team then you are a good high school RB, but that DOES NOT make you D1. I think Powell and England both serve their team well, but everything is always a debate, then people coming to the defense of one or the other. If you want to compare stats then do so here they are but I assure you and no disrespect to anyone the numbers are average at best compared to some of the top backs in the state. I would say this one gets ugly quick as I am sure that the Cardinals will be on full alert all week. McKee and company can't be happy after losing the other night and I imagine Dunbar will be the ones that pay for it.
