I'm not sure which one Lange was. I believe Jump fouled out. This game left me scratching my head wondering ir Ryle did any scouting on SK. Ryle had several smaller, quicker guards coming off the bench, that given match ups, should have gotten more PT than the bigs. Although Ryle's bigs did bother SK shooters, the lack of lateral mobility and quickness led to way too many fouls and put SK in the double bonus early in each half.

I appreciate you being good natured about it. I label my pre game threads as "Previews" not "Predictions". Trying to predict outcomes of games involving teenagers only makes one look foolish!

I would think that coaching mobility would be limited to the availability of teaching or admin positions that fits a coaches day job skill set. You just don't find too many day jobs that leave you available from 2:30 - 6:00 every day to coach. Your day job almost has to be at the same school you are coaching at.

Ryle started 3 bigs and two guards that were not exceptional ball handlers. The bigs bothered SK shooters for a quarter and half, but quickly racked up fouls in bunches. Fatigue set in in the 2nd half and Ryle was done. Ryle had some smaller, quicker players coming off the bench that I though was a better match up than the kids they started. No dominant scorer for SK. My first time seeing Neace in a brand new SK uniform. Girl has some serious upper body strength for a freshman.

Wow! I remember Williamstown being very young in recent years. This result sounds to me like substantial improvement for them. Can they compete with Walton and SK in district?

I would not get too excited about SK just yet. When I read that they forced a lot of turnovers, but only scored in the 50's, this tells me that they are not converting the turnovers into points. This was a major deficiency of the previous SK teams which was exposed in different years by Anderson and Walton respectively. If this program wants to get the state tournament, they need to be consistent in converting turnovers in to points. Finish! Finish! Finish!

What key players does Ryle have returning? What style of offense do they run? How deep is their rotation?

This will be SK's home opener, but 2nd competitive game. This is Ryle's first game. What can we expect from the Lady Raiders this year? SK is young, but talented. A completely different team from the past 3 years. I suspect SK may be a little sharper, having already played one game. Thoughts?

I've learned over the years to not put hardly any weight on early season results. Teams are so much different from game 1 to game 30. Many get better, and some regress.

Score at halftime was 23 - 17 I believe. Looks like SK ran away in the 2nd half. I'm surprised Shelby only put up 28. They looked so strong in regionals last year.

How badly does not having Racke available hurt SK? I understood his fb injury to be quite serious.

You may right. It may take a month or so to develop that depth.

I don't believe depth will be an issue for SK. You may have attended scrimmages that took place before the volleyball and soccer players were done.

Welcome to BGP. I don't know if SK will be rebuilding this year,or reloading. There is more experience coming back than what most casual observers recognize, but even those kids will be in bigger roles than what they have been in the past. Much better passing team and more offensive weapons, but I think this team may not be as good defensively as the past couple of teams have been. I think the winner is the team that controls the tempo. Not too many teams will want to run with SK, and not too many teams will want to go half court with Shelby. If the winner scores in the 70's, SK will win, if the winner scores in the 50's, Shelby will win.
