I believe Holmes coaching transition may have hindered communication. My understanding is that several messages regarding scheduling were left at the middle school where this coach has a day job. -

No Ky Coaches Poll - Week #4
HoopsLady replied to Baseball Nut 24's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
I'm bracing for 10 pages of posts now! Generally, Girls Basketball is more "Gentlemanly" than football. Smack talk is generally not done in this sport and competitors tend to be a bit more friendly. This is especially true since high school competitors are often AAU team mates. -
No Ky Coaches Poll - Week #4

With only 5 out about 30 programs voting this is not enough a sample size to take seriously. Next week, when everyone is back from out of town tournaments, there should be more coaches voting, then we will have something to talk about! -
What school does Damien Harris pick?
HoopsLady replied to jericho's topic in KY Football (High School)
The fact that Harris is waiting until after the Mr. Football announcement to announce his decision could be an indicator that his choice is not UK. -
Simon Kenton 62 Muhlenberg County 44

Just saw the hudl tape of this game. Both teams showed fatigue. Muhlenberg County was the most tired as they had their hands on their hips for most of the 4th quarter. SK played well offensively, but the defense was not the typical suffocating in your face defense. I wonder if the bench is being fully utilized? SK still missing lots of chippies, but they get a lot of high percentage looks. Glad to see Coach S holding the ball to force MC out of the zone. -

Change the word commitment to exposure and I think we are on the same page. -

I believe one kid was out due to a recruiting commitment in her scholarship sport. I can't lay blame for that. The big picture is to have your kids ready to play for district and regional play. Kids are going to miss games whether it be by injury, illness or some other commitment. I look at it as an opportunity to develop kids at the end of the bench. -
Final from Edmonson County. Heard that SK was flat and had to be re inspired at halftime!

Being ready to play and prepared to play are not the same thing. -

Sometimes travel can work the other way as the team traveling is more focused on the game, and the team playing close to home is more distracted. -

Holiday tournaments can be a crapshoot. No time to prepare for an opponent. Kids recovering from illness. Travel fatigue etc. It is very easy to have a day when you don't have your A game. -

My understanding is that there is tremendous competition for female athletes between basketball and volleyball. The two sports have such rigorous calendars that there is almost no sharing of athletes between the two sports. If Cooper has a strong VB program, that could explain the low turnout for BB. -

Winning in Catholic School environment with established athletic traditions and kids who are extremely well supported is one thing. Doing the same in a public, closed enrollment environment is a bit more of a challenge. Jury is still out for me. -

Better look at the Mason County Cooper score before jumping to that conclusion. I do have to admit though, Ryle has some capable ball handlers that don't seem to get a lot of time. Playing the three bigs together does not seem to be working. I don't know what they are thinking either. -

At Simon Kenton, we don't rebuild, we reload! We have a very fertile feeder system that continues to produce in abundance. We have D1 experienced coaches that are levels above most coaching HS ball in this area. Do you think your squad will be 8-0 this time next year when this class graduates? I don't think so!
