  1. If I'm Dixie, I don't even think about passing the ball until SK proves they can at least slow down the running game.
  2. Yes, it does speak to coaching. I tell my kids that if they hear something offensive, count to 10 before you respond. If you cannot control your emotions as an adult, you have no business being a leader of youth!!!!
  3. Or Ryle, or Boone or Campbell for that matter.
  4. No program gets blatantly attacked on this site, completely absent of moderation, like SK does. It has been open season on SK's program for years now. UK is not the only one from Independence that has acquired an edge.
  5. Dixie will crush SK just like they did the first game. After all, beat them once, beat them again, right? just like Pikeville beat Paintsville in their rematch!
  6. My respect for Trinity football just took a hit.
  7. Easier said than done as far as 4A schools platooning. Most folks tend to focus on enrollment as a barometer. That is a big mistake. Roster size is a better barometer of ability to platoon. HHS typically has 85 - 100 kids on the roster. Most 6A programs do not have roster sizes that high. Is there a 4A team that has even 50 kids on a roster? I don't think so. This why HHS can get away with playing poorly, and still win games against playoff caliber competition comfortably.
  8. That HHS can completely self destruct and beat any team in 4A by 2 TD.
  9. Dude, if Olmstead can block this guy : Daniel Cage Bio - UND.COM - University of Notre Dame Official Athletic Site he can block Johnson.
  10. Clearly, SK has to make major adjustments to be competitive in this game. If I'm SK , I play a five man front , and play the the QB keep option every time. I blitz corner backs and I live with the pass completions. On offense , I pass the ball down field on first down at least 5 times to get the linebackers off the los. I move #67 from SK to be over Johnson so he does not have to be double teamed. I also consider throwing in some on side kicks.
  11. Lafayette is a very talented team. They hurt themselves badly with a holding call that killed one drive, a roughing call that extended an SK drive that SK scored on, and two lost fumbles in the first half. SK built a 21 -7 lead at half, and the rest of the game was even. While the coaching staff is to be congratulated for SK playing two turnover free playoff games, I believe the 12 pass attempts by Racke will not be enough to beat Dixie. I don't see a steady diet of read options and flanker screens being enough. SK needs to attack the field vertically, as well as laterally in order to move the ball against Dixie.
  12. Confirmed: McCracken County football coach Jack Haskins is retiring from coaching, effective immediately.
  13. The system is so good , that it insures that the entrenched powers maintain their advantage!
  14. In my view, male enrollment is almost irrelevant. Look at Highlands. Their roster size is larger that many 6A programs and they win titles often on the basis of depth alone. Roster size should be the weighting criteria for defining classification, not male enrollment.
  15. Quite often in a tournament situation, where you are playing multiple games daily, the 6, 7 or 8 kids that play freshman only are not enough and you need to bring some kids down so kids don't get worn down.
  16. Rcc9 I hate to break this news to you and all those who have been following this dialogue. I am going on a cruise and won't be able to continue the dialogue. I really will miss the back and forth discussing the validity of a programs philosophy or the discussion making process within that global philosophy of long term benefits vs the traditional view of programs within the great state of Ky. Especially the Northern Kentucky mentality. I hope each dose not freeze from the expected cold that will cover the NKY area while I am riding the ship in warm weather!!! Hope your bottoms stay warm!!!! Final statement in the over riding philosophy of a program is the same visceral reaction to the UK Coaches decision to recruit those who are elite and fit the mold of 1& done. Many in academia cry foul with this type of philosophy toward Collegiate athletics. It is the beginning of change to a mindset that has been around for decades. Not everyone agrees on it's merit only time will tell. The same with SK what they do and how they do it and their approach (philosophy) is different than others and to high school athletics. Doesn't make it right just different. Sunny weather here I come!!!!!!!
  17. Maddie Meyer Kelsey Blau Kayla Krohman Here is a link to the roster : Simon Kenton High School (Independence, KY) Girls Basketball Roster
  18. I have a niece on the team. Maggie Bosse is my niece.
  19. The team will be led by Seniors Bosse and Schmiade and by Freshman transfer Ally Neace. They have a lot of returning experienced players and very good younger players.
  20. This team will be younger and will be more dependent on ball movement rather than dribble penetration, speed and quickness. This will still be a fast up tempo team, but the ball will be advanced passing and not dribbling.
  21. It does appear when I rebuttal your followup statement in your post after you have clarified your position on the previous post you continue to provide additional opinions that are twisted with personal perspective and Coaching perspective. I am simple pointing out to you regardless of the detail in your argument that MANY people were very critical and Harsh to the HHS Coaches for their PHILOSOPHY and DECISION in that example irregardless if your daughter or anyone else were moved up down or sideways. It was THEIR DECISION and STRATEGY. as COACHES Period. My rebuttals are in defense of a very common Professional Coaching standard of Criticizing other Coaches decisions. That is what has gotten lost on you. and Vilify is correct see Websters Dictionary : vil·i·fy verb \ˈvi-lə-ˌfī\ : to say or write very harsh and critical things about (someone or something)
  22. The three you referenced were Freshman. Thus eligible to play in Freshman games at will. Also No to your first statement of understanding . ONLY SR's are GUARANTEED Varsity. All others regardless of grade level are eligible for Var/JV Only Freshman and younger are eligible for Var/JV and FR . based upon player development needs or skill sets. Starting JV has no substance to the decision making as to play (up or down- you words which we do not use). The amount of playing time logged in is a non factor in the decision making as well. Yes things are done DIFFERENT at SK and it works for their program.
  23. Triple seven, I personally Don't have issue with other peoples opinions. It is however looking from the outside in and that is why you Never as a coach vilify another coaches program or coaching Philosophy. It wasn't long ago there were rabid NKY fans especially some from the 9th region who without thought openly bashed HHS coaching decisions to play stall ball in the regional tourney. I for one gave the coaches credit for their decision ,though unpopular to others and some coaches who thought go with what brought you to the dance. The coaches did what they believed was in the best interest of the team and program to have a chance to win. I still believe once a coach always a coach but be ever mindful of what and to whom you speak unless you are in the decision making moment. Maybe RCC9 is a SOLID AAU Coach and never added better players to his roster after he saw what (recruited) he had. That is not to say that it does not happen in AAU basketball, Girls or Boys so again . If it does occur in the game Why is this such an issue . It is part off the evolution of sports and it is not everyone's cup of tea. Regarding weather the program would or would not have benefited had those he speaks of remained in the program will never be answered or validated so it is a mute issue with no relevance to the 2014-15 team. The question or statement originally asked was in relation to the past three seasons JV success as indicator or success this season. That would be plausible if the roster is the same but not guaranteed. I by no means am upset with his effort to assist the young ladies. They have to make decisions that is in their own interest even when others don't agree. maybe they just didn't want to put anymore effort into the sport due to the Competitive level needed to continue to advance. Some athletes just plateau others don't and with the young ladies that keep getting referenced we will never know unless they are asked directly.
  24. But since you mention it...I have a second daughter that is very competitive, so I must just not like her at all. At one time, we had over 140 kids playing for Gametime...the org I started. And I started it with the team you are talking about because I couldn't find anywhere for that group to play. But since you bring it up, what did all that work have to do with my one daughter you point out? 14 teams and 140 families...and I did it all for my one daughter. Sorry it didn't work out like you would have liked for your daughter. And you do realize that my daughter quit playing AAU to focus on softball AND you do realize that I took a high school coaching job (apparently to focus on my daughter's bball skills) that takes up a lot of time and I was not able to keep the AAU org running. I turned it over to others and got out completely so I could focus on my HS coaching, my "real" job and my 4 kids! Sorry it's not what you wanted, but maybe this volunteer parent wasn't in sync with you and should have checked first. I had the Org for almost 7 years, had all those kids involved, organized just about everything and never made a dime! So bark all you want, I don't feel bad about anything I volunteered to do. BTW, what did you do for all those kids? Wow, and reading your other post, you are obviously bitter. Do you feel its the "right" of a kid to get fair and equal time and opportunities on a competitive team??? Is that why you're bitter? I played to win in AAU...In fact, if this is who I think it is, we even had discussions on playing time. But you apparently didn't like the way it turned out. Out for only my daughter...give me a break!!! If anything, I was harder on her than anyone. And if you were around at all, you know that.Statement from the Middle school forum. My final comment regarding the position of players being Happy due to Coaching decisions could not have been stated more clearly regarding the situation that has been discussed in this thread regarding PAST seasons indicating future success. Hard to argue with ones own words!!! Finallly this is a DEAD HORSE!!! Leave it lie.
  25. Not sure of being ready for Basketball 401 due to they are on similac !!!! Might be awhile!!!
