Guess it depends on the roster. No Abby Owings is going to be the biggest hurdle for this team. Hard to replace her.

Agree 100%. Not only was she their go to scorer, she was the only player that could go left, and handle the ball against good pressure. Going to also be hard to replace the experience that graduated with Owings, Cox, Cook, and Hester.

Niece is the next go to scorer for SK, IF she gets enrolled in Independence. There's still talent there and Coach Stowers does a great job with that program.

I'm hearing 450+ incoming frosh at SK.

Anyone's thoughts on starting 5?

Niece for sure. I am sure she has the keys to the offense and I doubt SK misses much of a beat. Look for them to be regional contenders again if not the favorite in a down year.

Abby Owings was a nice player but the Pioneers upgraded with freshman Ally Niece.

WOW!!! That's a STRONG statement.

Tough call. Neace is a great talent and scorer but isn't one to get others involved and not at owings level energy wise or defensively that others will feed off of. Ally will get her 15-20 a game for sure if not more But it will be interesting to see how see if she can make others better around her. In any event a great young lady and both special players.

Wow, JTrunick. I have watched both play a lot. No disrespect to Neace, but not even close to Owings. Totherim layed it out nicely. On her aau I'm not sure she is the best player, I would give thar to Tira from Holmes. However she is a nice player that will score a lot.

This might be the Biggest Overstatement of the Pre-Season so far.

Owings was a hound on "D". Ally is not even close to her on the defensive side of the ball. That is where I think that she needs to imporve the most. She will be a liability on the floor for SK unless she just didn't want to play "D" on the weekends that i seen her play!

I'm dishing a lot of "likes" for those against this one. I think your emotions got the best of you and you got a little ahead of yourself.

And in case your tempted to overreact again, I am not saying Niece is not a player. She is a heckuva player! But as a freshmen, she will NOT be an upgrade yet over Abby's defense, toughness, heart, leadership, bball IQ, and everything Abby meant to her team by her Junior and Senior years. It takes more than points to be an upgrade over Owens. If you want to say Niece will be an upgrade at some point, then great, I got no problem with that. That would seem more realistic. Of course, if you want to continue the pride and disrespect route, that is your choice....have fun.

This is where I'm at with this move. Good with the ball in her hand...that's for sure. But there has to be a reason the Scott fans are so excited about their team...after losing their top scorer. That to me just doesn't add up. Other than Legacy fans and promoters, that seems to be the challenge for Neace.

Great player and gonna have her day, but scoring points doesn't always equal the best basketball player. I agree that Tyra Englemon and Lexi Held are just as good...for different reasons.

But to say better than Owings at this point...not a chance! Owings did and meant so much to that team that Neace will have to grow into. Not a knock on Neace at all.
