Same person who took care of Beechwood before it declined is the master behind Boone's field

How about baseball in NKY as a fall sport in high school ?August ,Sept, Oct.

Boone beats St Henry on another bad weather day for baseball. Elmore started for the Rebels on the mound and Hibbard finished the last three innings. The game was a part of the Reds High School Showcase

Boone vs St Henry has been changed to Sunday at 3Pm at Roselawn Sports Complex. I guess the game is one of the Reds showcase games?

I think the poor weather conditions had both teams making mental and physical mistakes that they would normally not make. After 4 1/2 , Boone was on the short end of the stick, losing 3 -1. The snow changed to rain and I guess the Rebels decided it was time to get it done or freeze to death. Rebels went around the order, high lighted by a line drive rocket GRAND SLAM by A. Floyd . After going up 11 -3 and 2 outs, A Bellevue player was ejected , which caused a forfeit for Bellevue due to shortage of players. Great comeback win for the Rebels, but felt a little sad for the way the game ended for the Tigers.

Boone played a round robin with Ballard and Lafayette. Ballard beat Lafayette the first game, Boone had the great win against Ballard the second game and Boone lost to Lafayette the third game. As Scott2936 posted , Boone played a great game against Ballard. Jumped to a 5-0 lead with great pitching, defense, offense and some great base running. The second game, Boone didn't fair as well. Boone took the early season game to get 3 kids to the mound for their first varsity game. Lafayette, whose bats were quiet against Ballard, came alive in the last game and ended Boone's early 3 run lead with a convincing 13-3 win

I would have to say Meinken was the worst field by far. Beechwood's baseball field decline would probable have something to do with Troy Bertke leaving and heading to Boone, which is why Boone was in the best condition it has been in years. IMO, Boone had the best infield in the district last season and another full season w/ Bertke working on Boone, it will be one of the best in the area. The area around Boone's field isn't as open as a field like Ryle, but beats the corner that Cooper's field is stuck in. Parking is terrible at Cooper for baseball. How many balls are lost at Cooper over in the cow field valley behind the first base dugout?

Who pitched for each team?

I know it was a scrimmage, but what type of score was it? Did Conner throw multiple pitchers? How was the Birds offense?

Did Brossart play Carroll Co. Tonight?

Ziegelmeyer will be a force this season, but the author's opinion was base on last year's views. Unfortunately, Ziegelmeyer wasn't used in key games where he would get a chance to show out like some of the other juniors did last season, this year I think he will get the chance. Ryle had a down year which doesn't help a player get noticed.

I would agree these are good players, but a lot of time good players don't get attention if their teams don't perform well. Did any of these teams do well in districts or make regions? Also, These small schools need to have some good wins against some larger schools to get any credit. I think every school that had players listed did good in district play and I think played in regions or better.

What coaches were at the meeting? What do they base their votes on? I can see the top 4 because they have a lot of players w/ varsity time, but Take Ryle for example, Why would coaches have Ryle over any of the other 33rd district teams. I think they were the 4 seed in district play and had the worst overall record in the district. Didn't they start a lot of seniors last season? Anybody have any answers on this conclusion? Was Ryle's coach the only 33rd district coach there and might have peeked at the straws?:idunno:

I don't think Scott or Boone will be at full strength , just a chance to get on the field and knock some rust off.

There will be more kids that stand out this season, but the list was on players who shined last season . Also, the better the player's team is, the more reconigtion the player gets for a great performance. I think all of the schools listed had great runs at the end of the season in district, regions , and some state tourneys. Congrats to all the players making the list.

Old Bulldog, I don't think anyone was talking pitch calling, more on good mechanics behind the plate which affects the game which can affect the pitchers' game

Launch8, you said what I was trying to say a lot better, I used the word "stats" which wasn't what I meant. Blocking, framing, controlling runners, knowing how to handle umps are a big plus on how a pitcher's game plays out. At the very least, a good catcher like Blake can take some mental pressure off a pitcher. Same can be said about the defense behind the pitcher.
