Harrison County 11 Brossart 0 (5 Innings)

Recommended Posts

Sophomore Nathan Fryman went for Harrison County while Matteo Morrison started for Brossart.

Both teams had opportunities in the first two innings, but the game remained scoreless into the third. Brossart changed pitchers since Morrison had pitched last Saturday in Lexington. Craig Pfefferman came on in relief and gave up three runs in the bottom of the third. He was relieved in the bottom of the fourth by Tanner Verst, who was hit up for 8 runs.

The Breds had only five hits on the day, but the Mustangs aided their cause with several costly mental mistakes, and three phyical errors. We walked eight Breds.

Fryman worked four complete, allowing no runs on few hits, he struck out six, while walking 4. An eighth grader closed it out in the fifth.

The downer is that Harrison County starting catcher Robbie Staub, who had undergone surgery for a dislocated shoulder last year, reinjured that same shoulder sliding home for the Breds third run. We wish Robbie well. No one should have to undergo surgery, thearapy, and then only get to play three innings before reinjuring the shoulder. Tough, tough break.

The Mustangs are not 0-3 with losses to DeSales, St. Xavier, and Harrison County. This was Harrison County's first game of the season.

The Mustangs will look to right the ship if we are able to get in tomorrow's scheduled game with Grant County in Alexandria. We are to return to Lexington Catholic to play NCC on Friday night, with the prize behind door number two - St. Xavier, again, for the winner. The Breds (NCC) lost to St. X 11-0 last weekend.

Greenup Co will be down on the 27th, For the Harrison Co tournament. Looks to be a very tuff early season field of teams. Greenup has Newport Catholic on 27th ,than Dixie Heights on 28th. I just hope Greenup has some more rust knocked of by then, should be some good baseball. May be we will see a Greenup Co VS Harrison Co championship game.
