Normally I pull for SEC teams when they play an out of conference opponent; one exception to that norm is when it is a Brian Kelly coached team. I still remember what he did when he left UC years ago and that was deplorable. He showed his backside again after the loss last night when he ranted on his team. Good win USC!

The JV obviously is throwing to the right ends and the varsity needs to incorporate them into the game plan.

Good win for Highlands. After giving up the two big scores the defense was impressive. Same verse I used to tell Dale Mueller-Coach you need to use your tight ends to do something other than just block!

Just watched the podcast on You Tube and was not disappointed. I lived close to Dale Mueller throughout his great run as Highlands head coach and I am pleased to say he is just as enthusiastic and upbeat about high school football now as he was when he was coaching. It always impressed me that he was more about building young men than building football teams; he remains that today. Thank you Dale, you continue to inspire.

Other than Highlands being rated below Cooper I think at this stage the poll is right on!

I watched the practice with interest. I agree that Lorenzen turned heads and had a good session. So did Harris at QB guiding the varsity. My question is why we didn’t see more of Litmer. He guided the first two possessions then I didn’t see him again. Was there an injury or was the plan to give the backups more reps? I agree there was some confusion when in the middlemen the freshmen took the field for two series and then the varsity returned.

Coach Rice was one of the finest men I have ever known. Everything about him was a class above. I remember walking into a PE class as a freshman and as would be the gym was chaos with everyone running around and goofing off; when Coach Rice walked through the door all conversation stopped and we all lined up on the end line of the basketball court and listened. I was not an athlete by any means; just a normal student trying to get through classes. Years later when Coach Rice had just started with the Bengals he was in my row at a Highlands football game; as I started to shuffle past him he stood up and addressed me by name asking how I was and how my family was doing. He was phenomenal in caring for his students and not just the athletes. He helped in my learning how to take responsibility for my actions and to seek to take the higher road. RIP Coach.
