  1. I agree, I was told this years Williamsburg team was better and I just don't see that they are really. They are big up front but as usual very slow and I don't see any player on the team that is a "Wow" factor kind of player to me. Mayfield may not be able to get a running clock on this team this year but I do forsee some scoring going on.
  2. Haha, this Mayfield team is very healthy, it was beechwood this time with the injury. Looks like beechwoods stringer went out in the 2nd qtr with a foot sprain.
  3. Congratulations Mayfield!! This was the best beechwood team I have seen in years without a doubt!! To be able to shut down our running game when no one else has been able to is quite an accomplishment. If Mayfields passing game wasn't on, and it hasn't been in some games, the outcome could have been a lot different. Take State Big Red!!
  4. WOW! I never thought I would be saying this but good luck to Graves at state!!
  5. They left at 3 central, so they should be arriving there soon.
  6. Can you find any other video online of Beechwood other than the NewCath game?
  7. Graves is finding its stride now, after their win against McCracken they have been on a tear. The QB you guys are mentioning was a receiver at Mayfield last year, the kid is a true athlete, but was a great QB, but for other reasons that wouldn't work out. He's showing his skill now at just the right time. I think the thing I didn't expect in the BG game was Graves' D stepping up like that, I don't know where that turnaround came from, maybe some Graves' fans can explain that one.
  8. I didn't mean the stadium, sorry, I mean the look of the school, the massive facelift they have done to the classrooms and the main school building, the campus reminds me of Murray State, similar to the business building today.
  9. All talk aside, I personally enjoy coming up to Ft. Mitchell, I spend the night and just enjoy a great night of football. The crowd is electric, as a high school football crowd should be. Beechwood has a very nice facility, the field is always in excellent condition and with the recent changes reminds me of a small college, Murray State comes to mind. You guys have a lot to be proud of there in Ft. Mitchell.
  10. Vocke and Nussbaum are ones that come to mind without looking things up.
  11. The Mayfield posters are all correct on what I meant, all I am saying is I personally have seen it every year, that "X" Player is D1 talent, the one that comes to my mind recently is Vocke. Granted, this year has been a lot tamer it seems on the D1 touting, at least in this thread. We all knew Jonathan Jackson was special, and the best player on the field in most of his games, and he literally ran over kids, but he didn't go D1 and most of us fans knew it'd be tough given his size and I know I didn't say he was going D1 for sure.
  12. This D1 talk always bothers me about the Beechwood folks, I have heard this just about every year from you guys, and you hardly hear it from the Mayfield people. D1 is D1 no matter what sport? We are talking about football here, where we are talking about size and speed. The only player Mayfield has had that even got mention of D1 in a long time is Jonathan Jackson, and even he didn't go D1. Nussbaum didn't, he had the size and Vocke didn't, and he had the speed. I don't think the "stud" factor means much when you are facing a good defense like Mayfield, we shut down Vocke back when he played us, Nussbaum was the only successful athlete from Beechwood I can recall giving us fits.
  13. I heard on the way home Coach Myers (who used to coach at Mayfield and probably knows the system better than most coaches in the state) say they prepared for 3 weeks for this game.
  14. Yeah, Mayfield has had more go on to play college ball than Graves. There are quite a few scouts at the State Championship game than come to playoff games so his decision to go out to Graves doesn't make a lot of sense to me, especially when you consider he has invested and learned the Mayfield system and it takes more than a year it seems to learn a new system like that.
  15. Historically players that go from Graves to Mayfield do well, not the other way around.
  16. Don't forget that tackle Landon made on that lineman, that was sick!! I love it when we have tough QB's like that.
  17. I watched the first half of the Tilghman/McCracken game and from what I saw Tilghman did like they always do and killed themselves, some of that you can blame on implementing a new system but a ton of offsides and other penalties. Mayfield did not make those kind of mistakes in the first game against Fort Campbell and I don't expect it to happen this week either. McCracken gave up a lot of yards on the run so I expect Mayfield to exploit that just to keep the ball out of McCracken's hands. If Mayfield can play ball control and mix in the pass to keep the defense honest, I say Mayfield has a good shot at pulling it out. I don't like our chances if we get into a scoring contest. I think the Mayfield Defense is ahead of the offense at this point but you can't depend on it for a whole game, they have to come off the field and get a rest.
  18. Don't know anything about RossView, but Graves seems to be able to put up some points this year. Looks like this matchup between Mayfield and Ft. Campbell is gonna be more of a letdown than I thought, I was hoping for a little more prep for the McCracken game than what I am seeing.
  19. In the running back position that year, Mayfield did not have anyone better in that position. And Beechwood was really good that year, you can't tell me Hazard was head and shoulders better than Beechwood that year. Putting a player like Jackson out on the field is an intimidation factor at first, but then I agree it gets stupid to leave him out there and he isn't doing anything, but he was a leader the moment he stepped into that school as a freshman, so you can't ignore that, especially in a championship game.
  20. Thank you, if you had watched him as long as we have, you know he can carry a team anywhere. I think Mayfield could have done some different things in that game but we all knew that Jonathan was good for 2-3 TD's a game. If you took out Combs for Hazard it would have been a different outcome, you can't deny that.
  21. Its pretty simple really, take out Hazards passing game, the QB and the defense and then see how well they do. Hazard said they stopped Jackson, but he was just standing out there and everybody on the Mayfield side knew it. Mayfield played teams as good as Hazard and bigger all season, you can't tell me Jackson wouldn't have broken some tackles and had some big gains that day had he been 100%.
  22. I was told not to worry too much about the OL, as Milan's DL is expected to be very strong this year. They are supposedly a sr dominated line with 2-3 of those guys starting since they were sophs.
  23. I wonder what the cost would be to have a play clock and would you have to have one at both ends?
  24. Actually, we do at several games. I agree with a lot of posters on here, I think its a pretty big problem that lots of teams take advantage of. We could actually get a much longer count if we went with when the ball is set but do you go by that or when the judge blows the whistle?
