  1. Yep, a lot of backjudges have a buzzer that goes off after the time, but I have seen them just put their hand over it.
  2. Yes, this is what I am talking about, "wildly inconsistent" and yes I was talking about the 25 second play clock, sorry about that. I have seen officials allow up to 40 secs in a play. I rarely ever see a play clock at any stadium, so it leaves a lot of leg room to that official. I have seen a few penalties for delay of game for sure, but there could have been tons more. I am just saying if your team is more of a quick scoring team and you can score fast and are used to doing so, then a team rolls in that has the game plan to slow it down, which happens all the time, and they start to notice that the refs are allowing 30-35 secs per play, that is a huge advantage to that team. It pretty much takes away plays from the other team.
  3. I have seen this discussed in the past on here but I kinda wanted to drag it back up to see what the official ruling on it is. Very rarely during regular season do you see a game clock in a high school football game, but you do see one at the state championships and it is followed to a T. My question is why do the refs in regular season games not follow this to a T, most of the time its all over the place. I have been told its to allow for "the flow of the game", which doesn't seem fair if a team is coming in with the intention of slowing a game down. What are your thoughts??
  4. They may be, but most of the scoreboards I have seen them make don't have much advertising on em. I know we got insurance money to pay for it so I don't think paying for it is gonna be much of an issue.
  5. I ran into a lady back around christmas that worked for sportable scoreboards in Murray and she said she was working on it, she said it was gonna be really nice, that's about all she said. I guess she was comparing the board to other sports saying it was so much nicer but it does help in football to have a nice booster club, :thumb: I think the key to the new scoreboard is gonna be the wireless setup, I heard that was a big problem in the past.
  6. I used to be on here years ago, just decided to take a break for a while is all, lol. I am the person that runs Mayfield High School Sports
  7. It was a big loss for sure but I think we will have some kids step up and share that load from what I am hearing from the players. Like others have said, our defense will be a bit of a question mark but we have some kids that have played some quality time in games that will fill it nicely like Pedro Gonzalez and Davis Mills. There has been some shifting around of players and positions as the coaches get a feel for who is best at what positions but I am keenly interested in our running game. This year it will be more of a mix with speed and power from Mills and Tyler, if Tyler can learn to hit the holes this offseason, watch out, his speed is killer, and it should be a significant threat with a very seasoned line we have coming back. From what I am hearing, we have moved Lane Kennemore into the backup QB position as well as receiver, the kid has great hands along with the others we have in that receiver corps. I look for Jake to not have a lack of receivers this year. Its gonna be a great season, I look for our toughest opponent of the regular season to be Paducah Tilghman, with the merger of the Paducah schools I think Tilghman is gonna be the biggest benefactor as the quality Lone Oak kids seem to be heading that way.
