Was a great game last year. Does Mayfield win again?

I'll take the Mustangs at home. They will need to play better defense than they did in the 1st half against Tilghman, but I see McCracken winning in a great game.

For the Cardinals, the OL will have to play extremely well. They did last week, but, didn't play anything close to what the Mustangs bring to the table. They have the size to matchup, but, alot of younger guys vs the experienced line with similar size of McCracken. I do think Mayfield's stable of RBs are deeper and faster than they've had in a few years and I think they'll try and run the ball and keep the chains moving and keep the Stang offense off the field as much as possible. Shorten up the game as much as possible and not turning the ball over will be key. Even if they don't score every time, just being able to pick up 2-3 1st downs a drive will help them keep the defense fresh. With that said, they'll still have to establish a semblence of a passing game with some short to intermediate routes and get there playmakers in space to break off some big plays. I also think the kicking game will be big. If Herndon can boot the ball in the endzone on kickoffs and make McCracken go 80 yards on every drive, that'll be big because as good and explosive as McCracken is offensively, the Card D won't be that easy to march down the field on. Mayfield LBs and secondary will have to play well and keep the big plays to a minimum. I think it'll be a very close game that McCracken should probably win, but, if Mayfield just plays within itself and sticks to the gameplan, which I think they will, I could easily see McCracken getting a little frustrated and rattled and the Cards hold them off for the win.

Mccracken

Very tough matchup for Mayfield. Not entirely impossible but will be a tough challenge

McCracken by at least 2 touchdowns. Same prediction as I made for Tilghman game. Once again, too big, too deep, too fast and too athletic.

I made it clear that I'm picking McCracken. However, Mayfield will not make the same types of mistakes Tilghman did, and I doubt the Mustangs will get by with the defense they showed in the first half against PT. If MCHS plays the same defense they did in the 2nd half they should win!

Ill take Mayfield by 6. Bottom line...outside of Jones I was not impressed by the Mustangs last night. Mayfield keeps the chains moving...Mustangs get rattled and Mayfield pulls it off. Coach Morris has Haskins number and is a much better coach than Haskins...coaching can overcome a small deficit in athletes.

IMO, none of these areas will be a factor.. If anything, experience.. McCracken is a Sr/Jr dominated team whereas, Mayfield is playing alot of sophomores and 1st year players and that age and maturity factor is the biggest difference in the 2, imo..

This is why they play the games...

If Mayfield can run the ball and move the chains plus mix some passes in, this team has a chance. McCracken has the big play factor in their favor plus much more experience. A tough loss won't hurt us and this type of game lets us know how we stand. Turnovers kept McCracken in the game last year, this year's team doesn't have the experience to over come that obstacle.

I love the fact that the Mustangs were chanting "we want mayfield" after the PT game. You know you are the cream of the crop when a 6A school is chanting about a 1A school. Go Mayfield!!

I watched both and I think MC is a heavy favorite

 

I sure hope I am wrong but I don't see Mf being ready for this yet
