If you have multiple soph starting, that means your program usually has issues, unless you're a small school. No reason for any 6A, 5A, 4A, school to start many unless they are studs.

A lot of people don't understand why this happens. Its not that they are bad officials/umps, its that they dont wamt to irritate their own regions coaches. Officials in every sport will always give favorable calls to their home region team. Yes it's unfair but when the teams play within their own region officiating is never as bad as visiting another region.

After what happened last year I think it's safe to say that this whole region is wide open. Whoever gets out of district is going to have a chance to take home the prize. Should be a lot of fun! But ill go with HHS to win it and go to Whitaker.

I'm sorry that your panties are all in a wad over these kids. I guarantee this was part of the reason for HHS run last year. They kept their heads in every game in part to this especially at the end of the year where other teams kids had checked out. Like I said before, as long as they aren't being personal towards the pitcher or using profanity then there should be absolutely no issue with it. And from what I've seen this year and in years past they have don't nothing wrong.

Maybe the pitcher should have some mental toughness. As long as it isn't personal or profanity laden, everything is fair game. Nothing bush league about it. I'm guessing the pitcher didn't do to well during that game since your raising a fuss about it.

Along those lines, I've seen way too much throwing mitts, bats, and helmets. And that falls right on the coaching. Coaches aren't policing themselves like they used to, they will let things slide if its the "star" player.

I love it. Well let me put it this way, not a fan of the softballesque chants, but everything else I like. It keeps the players in the game. Yes it may get a little annoying from a fans standpoint, but from a coaches standpoint there is nothing wrong with it and should be encouraged.

Seems that the Birds are sputtering down the stretch, complete opposite of last year. I'm sure with all the seniors they will realize they only have a few chances left in their high school career and turn it on.

I'm sorry, but unless they win the big one in baseball and basketball it doesn't really resonate with me. NCC is on quite a run though and their success should be applauded.

Kids will be kids. I like it to the extent that it keeps everyone's heads in the game. But it does get annoying and a little too overboard. But it's no worse than when a basketball coach yells rebound while a free throw shooter is in mid shot on their first of two.

Football has definitely helped his pitching. He has put on a lot of muscle since last year and its really helping his pitching. If he can keep his head out of his game then he will do big things this year.

With my own experience in observing high school baseball, I've always said if a field is good enough to play on then play. The temperature should not effect if the game is played it not (unless its too hot). The reason I say this is because you never know in the month of April and May when you're going to get a week of rain and Miss 3-4 games. Btw congrats to Scott, probably was hard to hit in this weather let alone the staff of Randy Johnson's St. Henry has.

Well they do have the state football championships there, and I believe golf along with girls basketball so they do have some things... I would love to see it at NKU. But I agree, it is a really weird set up to get into the arena. How much does Diddle hold? I'd love to see it also played at Memorial in Lexington.

The last person Ive seen throw 90+ was Jake Cain from NCC 3 years ago and it was a Dodger scout that clocked him. His only problem was that his fastball was all over the place so he threw mid 80's consistently and it still was a blur to the hitter. I know it can be done, but there might be one pitcher every few years in the whole region that can hit 90, not 5 from the same school...:ohbrother:

I'm relatively new to this board and sorry if this has already been discussed. Why was the State tourney held 2 weeks early this year? I always liked going to the smeifinal games in the morning, catching the NCAA tournament in the afternoon, then ending with a nightcap at Rupp watching the finals. This year not only was it early it also was conflicted with the UK/FL game. Feels weird watching conference tournaments and no boys high school ball going on right now.

How close to 90? It always amazes me the amount if people that say a kid throws close to 90. I'd say the avg 9th region pitcher throws around 80. If there were as many kids throwing 90 as people say there would be 10 D1 pitchers a year in the 9th region...

I believe. I think I remember some teams doing it during the high school season. I know for a fact I've seen it during summer ball. I could be wrong about high school

I hate hate hate the AH/EH. For one thing I think it limits a teams lineup because it takes longer to turn the over the order and 2 thats why there is a DH. This aint little league anymore, everyone doesn't have to play

During the regular season Highlands will take their lumps for one reason, the depth of the pitching isn't there compared to most teams. They have solid guys in Jones, Murray, Shultz, and Cochran but it falls off from there. With Murray catching most of the games he wont pitch except for a handful of games before the postseason. So really they will have 3 very good varsity pitchers during the regular season. The rotation though is great for a postseason run like last year because with the way the games are spread out and the fact that those top 4 can match up with any pitcher in the 9th region and hold their own. Be patient with this team early but late in the year, a lot like last year, they will be extremely dangerous to make a run.
