Softball awards will usually be given to the top pitchers. There is a reason for that. Your chances over the course of a season of winning begins and end with pitching. Without it great defense and even hitting won't overcome bad pitching in the long haul.
After pitching its all about hitting and the ability to hit one out at anytime is paramount. It takes on average 3 singles to get one run. A power hitter takes one pitch and boom there's a run maybe more. Based on that I think the player in the year should be hands down Bailey Spencer. Without her Graybill could have been playing at 100%, Dutcher who has had a career year wouldn't have mattered without Spencer in the circle.
We would have won a lot of games but not all the close ones we did win.
