Birds came out and took care of business to get the season going. Great job Ladies!

The Birds used 14 hits behind Ace pitcher Bailey Spencer's one hitter to blank the 'Neers 12-0. Spencer had a no-hitter going into the seventh giving up a single.

 

It took a bit for the Birds bats to get going but once they warmed up the game broke open. Spencer also has a 3-3 day at the plate. Shelby Graybill led the hitting going 4-5 2 2b. 2 rbis. Rachell Gabbard went 2-4 3 rbis and Brennah Dutcher 3-5 2 rbis. Zoie Barth and Maleah Abner chimed in with there first Varsity hits.

 

Overall the Birds played well committing one error (my DD) but did leave 8 on base. That will be cleaned up as the girls get more hitting outside. They head to E Town this weekend for a few early tests before heading back to the ninth...

I heard she pitched 3 innings and did a good job vs a lineup full of big hitters.

SK's roster is mostly 7th and 8th graders,3 Freshmen, 2 Seniors and Sophomore I believe very young team will only get better.

I believe the Simon Kenton starting pitcher is 7th grader, Macey Krohman........and she is a player. Played travel ball last year for the Louisville Lady Sluggers, and is playing this year for the Beverly Bandits and our boy Chad Moran.

Chad coaches the 18u team. I believe she plays for the Bandits team out of Louisville. She was a fine young pitcher who could throw her curve for a strike.

I know that is supposed to be a compliment, but SK is not inexperienced. Every player on the field for SK was a starter last year. Just no excuse for 11 errors in a game.
