Can Walton knock off Grant and possibly still get to the region? Absolutely. Wtown is still building and will probably not be a threat to win a district game. Grant has a new coach as well and will be missing its top 2 scorers from last year's team. Carr transferred and Cummins is out for the year. Walton has a chance to get the #2 seed in the district behind SK.

Quite possibly the best team in the 8th. I know Anderson will be good but SK had the title in their hands and dropped it last year. Look for them to take it home this year.

Hopefully, this year they can avoid the ACL injury bug.

Shouldn't be much of a surprise with 3 potential collegiate players on their team. In fact, it shouldn't matter who the coach is with that kind of talent.

I believe the new KHSAA rule is misinterpreted here. Starting in 2014-15 season anyone younger than 7th grade may not play varsity sports in any sport. I still believe a 7th or 8th grader can play without being grandfathered in. Does someone know for a fact what the rule actually is?

Just read in another thread that Conner and Cooper both have had or are having MS playing up so that rule seems to be evolving.

What players in middle school will have the greatest impact on varsity teams this season? I can think of 2 that play for Scott High that play major roles on their teams. Who else?

Forgotten element in this conversation is why some younger coaches are under the pressure to make these decisions that you are talking about. Many times administrations (superintendents, principals, ADs) will support parents over coaches forcing difficult situations. Coaches nowadays do not have the same control as the ones in previous generations. Regarding the Holmes situation in particular, I do believe the prior Head Coach was told by administration that Deja's dad would be a part of his coaching staff and he would not be able to say otherwise.

I guess they are still not in the top 10. One of theirs transferred to Walton. I think her name is Dezarn.

Most of the time this summer, she was the most athletic girl on the court. Will she be able to handle being the "go to" player? Time will tell.

Not much love for SK? I believe Anderson should be #1 in the state with SK not far behind. Oldham and Gallatin are good clubs but there is a big gap between them and the top 2 teams.

I predict the KHSAA will edit this. LeBron took a lot of heat from the media when he didn't shake hands at the end of the NBA Finals. Isn't part of the KHSAA supposed to teach players sportsmanship? Is this a message of sportsmanship or one of avoidance?

If this is true, I would be worried about a lawsuit if I were Beechwood. Do players have to sign a release if they are from another school?

I wouldn't want to be a host school where a kid got hurt and there was any debate over safety. Something as simple as the location of the ball rack could cause for a lawsuit. I am not saying I would side with the lawsuit, just saying a lawsuit is more likely to occur nowadays.

What happens if someone gets hurt? Who is liable? School insurance shouldn't have to cover it. Boy, this is dangerous.

Cummins can defend. What Carr's defense like? From what I saw, he always guarded the other team's 5th option.

Easier region competition wise.

Jon Jones will not leave Gallatin for Grant, period. Can't believe it's even mentioned.

Anderson Co should be state title contenders next season. Simon Kenton can give them all they could handle in the region but AC will be very good even without their recent graduates.
