Eastern, Trinity and Ballard will put Manual always 4/5 in the region. They have good young kids coming but PG is not coming with that group. Those 3 teams have coaches that have won state titles and two that have won numerous. Welcome to the big leagues.

It’s actually in Leslie County based on how the river bends around the school. When it was public school Leslie and Clay fought over it all the time. Phone number is a clay co land line. Early 90’s through 1998 they were really good. They were in the same district as Bell, Pineville and Middlesboro. They were probably the second best team in the region a couple times but Clay was loaded. John D Wilson hall of fame coach did an awesome job while he was there.

Both those combos are special together and will need to make each other better. I’d go with Veil and McKnight simply because of defense and strength. Both groups have tons of skills set. However I’m picking south and Oldham out of the 29th until someone proves otherwise. Just not enough around Powell to beat Oldham I think. I’m taking Morrison if I’m coaching all day in high-school. He moves so well without the ball and it’s a lost art. If I’m coaching in college give me McKnight. His rebounding ability is unbelievable for a guard. When he learns to score he will be a monster. Let’s don't forget Seth Johnson at South at almost 18ppg and does a little bit of everything. Ben Michel who is the best sophomore in the region talent wise and if his potential is reached look for the Dragons to win the 8th. With the right draw they could be dangerous.

I think they played Varsity B level. Not sure though. That’s usually smaller teams and All A schools. Sometimes the stronger Varsity teams will send their second 5 to play that level so they get more playing time.

He’s an 8th grader is my understanding. Eligibility rules don’t apply for middle school. He will be eligible to play immediately.

I thought summer games were not allowed until June 1st if you were in school? Jefferson Co is in school. Did they change this rule?

They played defense Friday night to win the district, however that doesn’t mean they will this week. If they do play defense they’ll have a chance to win the region.

Referees are from the 12th region this year

REHS hit the nail on the head, I have watched both kids play and they are excellent players. They also represent their schools and communities very well. Not to mention the students they both are. My problem is why not have 2-3 selected for a region like the boys did in the 11th. Do not kid yourself if you don't think it was an accident that 3 were tied in the 11th. All 3 of the boys in the 11th are in the top 5 for Mr. Basketball and leaving any of the 3 out would of been a crime. Same should have happened here. Both girls are very deserving and KABC could have fixed the problem. They have done it before, trust me.

It happens across the state with level of competition that someone plays compared to others and most don't take that into consideration. Watched Harrison play AAU all summer and she is a really good player that has played better competition. If she played at Harrison County she would average a lot more points/rebounds etc. Not knocking Harrison they have a good team and they have had a good year. Clark plays a brutal schedule and has arguably two other D1 players on their team. I don't agree with the KABC awards and never will. Complete joke in my opinion with those 16 players only having a shot at Miss Basketball. They are players on their that aren't close to the level of other kids in other regions. If you followed girls basketball closely you would know that. They are D1 players on teams in Louisville and Lexington that are not in a weaker region that are better players, just isn't fair to them. I had a coach bragging about a kid scoring 2,000 points, which is a big deal, but if you are playing teams that are awful, and your team is bad so you play the entire game, it isn't hard to score a lot of points.

I may be mistaken, but this is the list for the KABC player of the year award, for the regions across the bluegrass. You do not have to be on this list to be Miss Basketball. However being on this list gives them an automatic on the list spot. For example, Haley Harrison can still be Miss Basketball.

North Bullitt got beat by Thomas Nelson last night I believe.

When the season gets closer Colonel Mike and myself generally do a season pre-view, not sure if we are doing it this year or not yet, we shall see.

11th region coaches are very good indeed that much will be challenging I’m sure. But it would for a lot of people

Have watched the Perry kid play and he is really good. Their AAU team is ranked top 5 nationally in the country. Have heard he will have to go the prep school route his senior year as he will max out in age as a junior. It seems as most young great kids are going this route now.
