This is the key thing imo. The current staff has struggled to get numbers up to a consistent 5A level. This school has absolutely one of the nicest football facilities in the state. Looking at 25 to 30 kids standing on the sidelines on friday nights is disheartening. Way to many two way players to make headway against quality 5A competition.

These bylaws pertain to athletic compliance. I've never heard of the khsaa telling a member school how to handle discipline outside of the sport in the academic setting. Other than a bad look for the Mason administrators and superintendent there's nothing anyone can do. The tax payers would need to go to school board meetings and demand change. As far as Augusta, Paris and Campbell, they lost to the better team. Mason was not playing with an ineligible player per their school rules. This is not college.

Sal, There's a lot of truth to your post. It always takes talent, but everyone who's been there will tell you it takes some luck. Mason had both this year.

I don't think there's any matchup issues for Mason due to playing a zone. Unless they get behind, I'm guessing biggs will be in a zone early and often. The TC dribblers can get to the rim and finish or draw a foul. If Mason can keep the score low and force TC to shoot a low % from outside, they got a chance. I'll say TC 67 MC 53 I hope im wrong, would love to see a 10th region school advance.

My comment about run outs and fast break buckets doesn't mean they have to play fast every possession. Getting a few of those will help a lot, because the half court buckets will be tough to come by. Only pressing I see is if one team gets behind. Speeding up tempo might equal "layup line"

Has the makings of a dandy. Mercer can play a multitude of ways.(fast,slow,ect ect) If Mercer can keep the score low, I like their chances in a one or two possession game. If I'm Dunbar , I want as many run out, fast break buckets as I can get. Mercer will have to play multiple junk defences to keep the two Dunbar scorers in front of them.

Paris,Grc, Scott .... top group Mason,Pendelton, campbell, moco ... middle group The rest are in the third group... Still not a power team in the region, unless transfers occur.

Its a good thread, if Montgomery co doesn't have the Jones boy from GRC they don't even get out of the district. Him and Davis at Paris were to of the best transfers in the 10th region hands down. Impacted many wins for both squads

Yes and no. Football which in many people's eye's has under performed, has not had a coaching change for several years. Personally the program has never climbed out of just an average to below average 5a program. During all the craziness of the last administration many wondered how the football program was not affected with a coaching change. Heck they fired a 29-3 basketball coach but left a below average football program alone go figure. Basketball coaching changes can all be traced to specific parent influence on the school system. Football has escaped this issue for the most part at least to the eye of the public. I've always believed you give coaches a fair chance as long has they are giving a good effort. Hard to messure success by wins an losses at some ky hs football programs. I.e moco is not highlands ect ect

Yea when you guys were losing to lex Catholic the sky was falling. It was and it is a marathon, 7+ teams had a chance to win the region, it may be many years before we see that again. Almost seemed surreal watching Augusta in a 10th region final.
