Nothing if you have the personnel to do it and the kids are content playing a half court, slow down set that produces 50 points on a good night...I liken it to Tubby Smiths O while at KY. You can win with it if you are loaded, but most years it did not yield enough points. I realize the 2 offenses were not the same, that is just what it reminded me of when I watched it. Listerman's show is just on a different level IMO and the kids love it and when the players buy in that is key. Also, the O will be spurred on by an intense D that will produce transiition points as well. I mean no disrespect to Coach Flynn, but it is just different and it will show on the court in December.

I too, was impressed by the hustle of everyone. The tenacity of BB & Weyer was nice. it was Hebel in the middle getting boards. Saw some quality bball moves by Hergott & Harris, the speed of Greene and that bounce pass from 40 feet out was the "Play of the Day" for me. The pass from Greene to Hergott(?) was in transition following a defensive stop and a time out by Coach Listerman after Ryle had cut it to 8. It was the beginning of a 15-5 run to end the game. If I remember it correctly. The finger roll by Harris from the right side late was sweet. Many high points for the Birds IMO. You can tell it's different.

I was at the HHS/Ryle scrimmage and watched the Birds play up tempo at both ends of the floor. Just the excitement and energy is at a higher level than in the recent past, fun to watch. I am sure I'll leave out someone, but here goes. Playing varsity last night were Greene, B. Hergott, BB, Brockett, Shepherd, Weyer, Harris, Hebel, Dougherty, Kendall, and Cain. If I left someone out JOAT or Stinky please add on. Hoge and Houliston were on clock duty, but present.

This should never happen! My thought is whichever coach asks a kid to choose, then give up that sport, if the athlete wants to drop one...

Wow. I love reading stuff like that. When I was in grade school & high school I read every sports story in the Post and Enquirer. I also like listening to games on the radio.

Highlands 7 Ryle 2 in Freshman region final

Yep, thought I had mentioned softball.

Don't follow HS Vball as much, thought they were in the same district...As for the comparison, I was providing an example of a sport that both teams compete in that as of late has been one-sided, yet the game/match is still played annually. I am sure all match ups have pros and cons... I really am not sure if you have a clue as to what you are talking about, because I think most of the HHS teams are above average in performance in most years. We have been doing well this year in cross country (state champs), girls basketball, baseball, track teams are competing and doing well, tennis teams advancing to state, had a regional champion golfer recently in Parker Harris, and if we are calling the dance team a sport they aren't too shabby. And if you think Dale and the football team would not play NCC you are WAY off base. They would play b/c a huge gate with a short travel distance and crowd appeal is what both schools need, financially. On the contrary it is win-win for both

Maybe UK should of played Centre last yr. It might have been a game or maybe EKU or Georgetown... I will be in the minority and say yes the neighborhood rivalry should be renewed. The two play in every other sport. Highlands plays NCC in Vball & that is often a mismatch in NCC's favor. I know, I know district opponents blah, blah.
