Anyone else like to see Highlands and NCC play one another in football again? Both have multiple state championships in the 2000's. Given that they are only a few miles apart, it seems logical that this rivalry should fire up again. They play in every other sport. Why not football?

This is exactly what I thought. It is a lose/lose situation for Highlands.

Neither school gains anything out of that match-up.

No reason to play. Last time they played it was Sixty something to nothing. Zip for Ncc! Ncc took their ball and went home. If they played again it wouldn't be as close as last time. Ncc lost to Holmes last year. Highlands doesn't need another Holmes on the schedule. Ncc does what they need to do for their season and so does Highlands.

What would be the point? Just because they are in close proximity to each other is no real reason.

 

UK and Centre are close, should they play in football too? It would give UK fans something to crow about, beating up on a smaller neighboring school, so why not?

 

Highlands is past this point with their program, they should only look for realistically competitive games outside of their mandatory district games. Play the best forget the rest.

Maybe UK should of played Centre last yr. It might have been a game or maybe EKU or Georgetown...

 

I will be in the minority and say yes the neighborhood rivalry should be renewed. The two play in every other sport. Highlands plays NCC in Vball & that is often a mismatch in NCC's favor. I know, I know district opponents blah, blah.

Maybe UK should of played Centre last yr. It might have been a game or maybe EKU or Georgetown...

Nothing blah, blah , about it. Taking nothing away from NCC , Highlands football program is light years ahead of NCC right now. Obviously it's not the 60's and 70's anymore. Most of Highlands other sports teams are average and not near the football program. Coach Mueller only plays games and / or scrimmages that will help his team prepare for the playoffs. NCC would not be one of those teams.

Even I see no reason why these two should play. Would be great gate for the home team, but that's about it. JMO

As long as a Schneider is coaching at NCC, Highlands will never be on their schedule. Bob wanted nothing to do with Highlands, and Dave is still there, and Bob as well (just not as HC.) Just saying, if Highlands had the chance they would probably schedule NCC, and your mentality of "NCC isn't good enough" is lacking, as if I'm correct Highlands has been playing Beechwood. District opponents? When did that happen? So you think NCC and Highlands should play football because of the NCC volleyball game results? :idunno:

Highlands was looking for games to fill their football schedule , NCC wasn't knocking down the door to get on the schedule. Don't worry Highlands filled that void with the team from Florida. :lol2:

Did you miss the part about NCC not wanting to schedule them? Or did you just ignore it? Obviously NCC wouldn't try to get on the schedule if they don't want to be....
