District opponents? When did that happen? So you think NCC and Highlands should play football because of the NCC volleyball game results? :idunno:

 

Don't follow HS Vball as much, thought they were in the same district...As for the comparison, I was providing an example of a sport that both teams compete in that as of late has been one-sided, yet the game/match is still played annually. I am sure all match ups have pros and cons...

 

I really am not sure if you have a clue as to what you are talking about, because I think most of the HHS teams are above average in performance in most years. We have been doing well this year in cross country (state champs), girls basketball, baseball, track teams are competing and doing well, tennis teams advancing to state, had a regional champion golfer recently in Parker Harris, and if we are calling the dance team a sport they aren't too shabby.

 

And if you think Dale and the football team would not play NCC you are WAY off base. They would play b/c a huge gate with a short travel distance and crowd appeal is what both schools need, financially. On the contrary it is win-win for both

I don't believe they will play again but count me as one who would like to see it. If it came in a good year for NCC, the neighborhood rivalry effect might make it a good game. Lots of these players grow up playing with and against each other in the FT football league so it would be fun for them.

Exactly. This would require some flexibility w/ both teams. This will be a one year on, four years off type deal. NewCath, annually, has about 2-5 players that could start for Highlands. On a good year, like '10, they have more than 5. As long as they are healthy leading into the game, the game will be good. The issue comes during the off years, or if one injury hits NewCath's top talent prior to the game. Highlands depth and talent would be overwhelming most years.

Why wouldn't Highlands want to play NCC? The attendance/gait would be quite a bit more than what it will be for when far away opponents like PT and Warren Central come to Fort Thomas. Plus, NCC would give HHS a much better game than most of the other NKY programs would.

Well seems at the time the NCC game slot was replaced by the Elder series, and not that I blame Highlands because it was a very good opportunity to advance their program, but it seems NCC did not take kindly to be dropped. They did not take drastic action like Campbell County did when Highlands dropped the Camels (Camels refused to play Highlands in any sport) for the opportunity to play Moeller and again that was an opportunity that was hard to pass up.

That has literally nothing to do with it... And if you think it does, you obviously have no clue on the situation.... As long as a Schneider is coaching at NCC, Highlands will never be on their schedule. Bob wanted nothing to do with Highlands, and Dave is still there, and Bob as well (just not as HC.) Just saying, if Highlands had the chance they would probably schedule NCC, and your mentality of "NCC isn't good enough" is lacking, as if I'm correct Highlands has been playing Beechwood. Fact of the matter is it's a lose-lose for both schools, and it'll never happen.

 

Highlands played a 2 year series with Beechwood. It was 30-0 at the end of the 1st qtr and Highlands started subbing. That series ended quickly.

Ncc cancelled the series after getting destroyed 66-0 or so by Highlands. They decided no more beatings for them. The beating outweighed the payday.

Not true. Highlands beat everyone by 60 or worse then. NCC wanted the series to continue but it held no value for Highlands who was beating everyone and did not need a A school with two losing seasons in a row on the schedule.

Highlands would destroy NCC and there would be no gain.
