I'm talking about the freshman season this year.

 

BW was great this year, no doubt about it. Even so, freshman record has little to do with varsity success, at least at HHS. If I remember correctly their 2010 state champs lost at least 4 games as freshmen.

Mex you made several references to the '10 team for NCC being able to compete etc. You also said more than five from NCC would have started for H that year. Remember H was pretty good that year as well. Who would have started and in place of whom? What do you think that game would have looked like had it been played?

I believe You are wrong about this. While BW had no chance of winning, the last time they played it was close at halftime. Beechwood had a lot of injuries and then the birds took control in the second half.

 

Edit, I may be thinking of the first game in the series at Beechwood. I do remember a pounding up in the Fort.

 

I'm correct. Let's not let facts get in the way of wishful thinking. 2009 was at Beechwood. Highlands crushed them there too. In 2010 at Highlands it was 30-0 end of 1st. Dale called of the dogs and didn't let the score get too bad out of respect for Beechwood. That same Beechwood team beat your vaunted 2010 NCC team. Highlands was undefeated state champions in 2007 too. Now 6 years later NCC could compete? NO WAY.

 

On a good year for NCC, Highlands would beat them by 40. You guys better listen to Lawnboy on this one. He comes to a few Highlands games and has seen Highlands destroy teams that are a lot better than what NCC can ever put on the field.

 

Years ago I wanted to see the game. Now I'd rather watch Highlands play somebody decent. The only thing that makes me want the game are some of the delusional NCC faithful. NCC is better served playing the teams they currently play. I'd rather see Highlands play a few more Ohio teams.

Good point. I think what nky91 is saying we all know Highlands is a football power house every year and if they play Newcath they would beat them. There are some years Newcath can stay in game with Highlands but likely would lose. I love watching Highlands football. That said whens the last time Highlands beat NewCath in Basketball I have friends that kids go to Newcath they don't get on bluegrasspreps and talk like NewCath is the best basketball team on earth. Heck if Newcath wanted to they could of beat Highlands last year in regular season by 90. Lets just be happy that Highlands and Newcath are doing great things in sports and most importantly in school work.

Also, that 2010 team was a Jeckel and Hyde type of team and with so many boys having played together in youth football I think it would have been a good game to watch.

Highlands vs Bryan Station, 2008 Playoffs, Highlands on paper is clear favorite and fortunately OL Tyler Grubbs get the good bounce after a Highlands fumble and a few plays later with less than a minute Highlands TD to advance and the Dynasty continues...

I think losing 28-8 at HHS in the freshman game is pretty respectable considering NCC only had 20 kids on their team and all those kids played both ways, hhs had about 38 kids, where only a few played both ways. Was tied 8-8 at half and was 20-8 late in the fourth. Was so close, dale got uncomfortable and was on the sidelines from the 2nd quarter on lol.

 

I told you, NCC vs HHS was offered in 10 for the game played at nippert in the skyline game. HHS declined, facts are facts. HHS did approach about playing in 12, convenient that hightchew was gone.....Lol

 

And for the actual results of the "scrimmage". It was 50-0 trinity at the end of the first half of the "game conditions". I know what you guys got out of it....the reality that your not as good as you think you are. BOOM!!!!

 

That right there says it all my friend! Tom Gamble charging outrageous prices for a high school football game. Who wins there? TG does.

So the argument for NCC is they might sneak one in every once in a blue moon.. might. I dk pretty weak aarguement for saying the teams should play. Highlands should beat NCC anyway. Larger enrollment and more athletes play. Sure I would like to see it, but does it make sense? I still wish they did because we wouldn't have these debates.

We'd be having the running up the score debate again instead if they played.
