This is great. Nice post. Here is my two cents worth. Haylee Smith has had too much success in both basketball and softball at ND to ever consider returning to Ryle. However, if the Oliverio’s had left at the end of last year she would probably still be there, and ND would still be an average softball team and Ryle would still be dominating NKY teams. IMO she has proved that she is the best pitcher in NKY and still has two more years to go. ND should definitely be the favorite to win the region this year. Petridis - a possibility, maybe. If so maybe the Knotts family would follow him just because he is so short. Knotts – Maybe he gets the job and hires Petridis and Lawnboy as his assistant coaches. Then he wouldn’t have to worry about who does the stats and could get Lawnboy’s daughter to transfer. Coffy – Great coach and would be a great hire for anyone, but not a chance he leaves Highlands. BGH – Just imagine their stats. Not just all state, maybe all world. Koors – There always seems to be drama at Conner, but they are always in the regional finals. She stays put. Lee Meeks – Not a chance. Kirsten Allen – Would be a great choice. Is she available? Freedom Fogt – Would be a good choice. I would think it would be a nice pay increase for her too and I am sure they would throw in some discount coupons to the local restaurants for her husband. She should definitely be a candidate for coach of the year. That would be a good topic for a new thread. Lawnboy – Seems to be a good choice, but would they pay him more to coach softball than he makes driving a truck for Fed Ex? I am sure he could teach physical education or something. At least he wouldn’t have to pay tuition anymore. Seriously I don’t think he would have the time to be a head coach and still keep up with all the stats and write ups he does and with all the time he spends on BGP, and I have a feeling he would not give those things up. Just ask his wife. As for myself, I am not sure I am qualified to coach a high school team. However, I think Redtruck would be a good choice. He seems to know a lot about the game and has so much more insight than most of us. Surprised you didn’t mention Baller99 as a possible replacement. You and him seem to agree on everything. It will be interesting to see who gets the job for both basketball and softball.

With all due respect to Newport, you should replace them with Holy Cross. Holy Cross should make the regional tournament. Newport has a chance just because they have a good pitcher, but they have not played the schedule that all the other teams listed have played, and if they are seeding this year they will have to beat Highlands or NCC to get in the regional. They are seeding this year, correct?

There are six classes in football. I believe most of the schools in 1a and 2a in football would be considered an "A" school in basketball and baseball.

This would be a good one to see. Where is this game being played at? I am pulling for Conner.....just to make things interesting.

I would say St. Henry, Highlands or NewCath. St. Henry does have the best pitching of the three, however Highlands did beat St. Henry 8-6 and NewCath scored 10 against St. Henry in an 11-10 game (according to KHSAA scoreboard). Both Highlands and NewCath seem to be able to hit good pitching most of the time and both seem to have decent pitching and defense. Therefore I would go with any of these three teams as a dark horse to win the Region if one of the top four teams doesn't. I would not count Holy Cross out either. Their pitching has definitely improved this year and they have a POY canidate in Moran. She can do it all, plays great defense and can hit with the best of them.
