Beechwood 6 Newport Central Catholic 3

Featured Replies

That's right folks, BW 6 - NewCath 3, it's not a mistake. The Breds out hit the Tigers 11 to 6, but end up on the short side where it counts. If this game is being played on a field with 200 foot fences the Breds would have had at least 3 "dongs" tonight. Beechwood centerfielder, Sierra Whitfield, looked like Jim Edmonds tracking down "DEEP" fly balls tonight. The rest of the outfield were on their "horses" as well. Tip of the hat to the Tigers on playing some very good defense as the Breds had "multiple" chances to score, however 3rd baseman Raquel Barry and SS Lauren Ruedeubusch provided pitcher Stacey Rengering with some excellent gloves tonight. Breds starter, Sarah Neace goes 3 2/3 allowing all 6 runs and 6 hits to the Tigers, before 8th grader Haley Meyers comes in for the final 3 1/3 and allows one BW batter on base, via a walk, while striking out 5. Now on to the details.

NewCath 1st - Ware bunt single (CS2-6), FO8, FO8.

Not really, IMHO we have talented athletes, who are not talented in softball no matter how hard we try. Don't get me wrong, they are great kids and I love'em to death but.......:idunno: This does not include all, but as a whole, yes. I'll say this, some of these kids better wake up, cause next year there are quite a few 8th graders that will take their spots in a New York minute.

This is one of the main reasons I love softball. You don't need to be the best athlete to do well. It helps but knowing how to hit, throw and catch trumps the best untrained athlete.

Wow! Congratulations. Very nice win for Beechwood.
