  1. I agree with you raiderbird, shoulda been 15 yards for charging at the ref, screaming, out on the field of play. I was just relaying what I heard.
  2. Someone near me said the flag was a sideline warning, like they do when players are closer than 3 yards to the field.
  3. That really hacked me off. I thought that if a player had equipment problems that couldn't be solved in a matter of seconds, they had to leave the field and be replaced. Instead, the ref is helping the guy remove his gloves so he can tie his shoe. Crazy!
  4. On this particular play I think the refs got the call right. It was a forward pass and was rightfully called incomplete. BUT... what happened next was ridiculous. Instead of putting the ball back to the original line of scrimmage, they put it at the point where the Highlands player recovered the "fumble." This resulted ina 5 yard gain awarded to LC for an incomplete pass! These were horrible refs. Calling borderline holding calls, but ignoring blatant pass interference on at least 3 occasions.
  5. Who's 3 and out? Could you be a bit more specific for those of us not there? Thanks.
  6. Guys, just to be clear, are you just dreaming of being in high school and playing, or is it the premise of the dream that you are an adult and somehow getting a chance to play again?
  7. I was at a high school reunion a few years ago and told my best friend, who I played football with, about a recurring dream I have. In this dream I get the chance to play again in a high school football game. In the dream I realize that I am an adult, but through some sort of circumstances that are never clear, I get a chance to suit up on a Friday night. After telling my friend about this dream he tells me he has the same dream! Later that night my old football coach shows up. He played in college and coached for about 30 years. I tell him about my dream and he says he has it too! So, my question is, are there any others out there that have this dream? I'm not one to live in the past or be an "Uncle Rico", but I have this dream about 3 times a year. Anyone else?
  8. I think RCC9 is talking about scheduling a benchmark game - singular, not games. Highlands does this with a GCL just about every year, and with Trinity if you want to count the scrimmage. Point is, by avoiding Highlands (or other elite programs) for just one game per season, teams are denying themselves the opportunity to see how they measure up.
  9. I don't know which route is more important. Looking at a map, sending things to Europe and U.S. would be best through Syria and Med Sea. Sending things to Asia/Pacific is best through Persian Gulf. But, even using the Persian Gulf route they can reach the Med via the Suez Canal. Geography is fun! :-)
  10. I think the assumption of most would be that Romney thinks Iran is landlocked. I don't assume much. I would be curious to see the percentages of how much of Iran's exports go out through Syria versus the Persian Gulf. I would say whichever is larger could rightly be called "Iran's route to the sea" in the context of a foreign policy debate.
  11. Actually, for Iran, the shortest distance by far to the Med Sea goes right through Syria.
  12. I think the priority of goals are: 1. State championship 2. Beat CovCath 3. Beat quality opponents (Elder, etc.)
  13. To answer the bolded, yes, they kept score. It was played exactly like a regular season game. Calling it a scrimmage is misleading - it's more like an exhibition or NFL pre-season game.
  14. Wrong. At the junior league camp this summer, Dale had the kids (3rd thru 8th grade) chanting "Beat Colonels!" or something similar. The same chant is used throughout the offseason during workouts.
  15. Just read an article in Fort Thomas Matters blog that refers to Dale as "Co-Head Coach." Weinrich is the other Co-Head Coach. When did this happen? Is this old news that I missed? I have heard in the past that Weinrich is the heir apparent - is this the beginning of the transition? Sorry if I'm just dredging up old news, but this is new to me. Here's a link to the blog. I commented and got the answer from the author of the article. FORT THOMAS MATTERS: Highlands Dominates Cov Cath (with video highlights)
  16. Question for those "in the know" at HHS. If Johnny and Billy are equally talented at football and Johnny plays spring football while Billy plays baseball, who will get more playing time? All things being equal, will those that show dedication to football get first dibs on starting?
  17. Has Highlands run the ball at all tonight? I'm listening off and on and it seems every play is a pass.
  18. It would be interesting to hear from him how he thought he was outcoached.
  19. Highlands cruises past Scott County | Cincinnati.com | cincinnati.com Good article about last night's win. Best quote, from Scott County's head coach: “A – they outcoached us. B – they outplayed us on offense. C – they outplayed us on defense. D – outplayed us in the kicking game. And E, they were certainly in much better condition than us.”
