  1. Did they stop working? If so, for how long? Who told you something "happened" to them? Give us the scoop.
  2. Do many high school fields have a play clock? I haven't been to a lot of them, but the ones I've been to don't have them.
  3. Radio guys said there are replacements coming in now.
  4. Here's my theory on why Dale schedules this scrimmage with Trinity: He knows it's a for-sure loss. He wants his players to feel that sting of a loss, and know that they never want to feel that again. The above is said with tongue ever-so-slightly in cheek
  5. As far as determining whether HHS is really the 23rd best team in the nation, you're right - it doesn't mean much. But getting these rankings are very important for the players at Highlands. It brings recognition and attention from colleges. They see Highlands ranked nationally, so they take a closer look at the talent there. I've always thought that that was Dale's motivation for trying to get nationally ranked - more attention for his players from schools that otherwise would never think to check out a little school in northern KY.
  6. Rockmom, I didn't mean that only saved people do good works. I meant that good works is not what gets someone saved.
  7. True. Good works are the fruit of one that is saved, not what saves someone.
  8. I know quite a few Catholics too - mostly family. They believe their salvation is through the church, hence those outside the [Catholic] church are not saved. Not saying this is what Catholicism teaches, but in practice most that I know believe this.
  9. Lots of good points here. Nice debate about health care and how to maybe reform it. Too bad we didn't get the chance to have this informed debate before the ObamaCare was shoved through congress, sight-unseen.
  10. Napoleon McCullem (sp?), Milford HS, Navy, Raiders. Played against him in high school.
  11. Amazing, especially considering how many times he uses the word "baby." If I didn't know better, I would think this was actually produced by an anti-abortion group to make the pro-choice side look bad. Fact is, I don't know better - it might be.
  12. I'm getting confused. You're saying there are only 3 or 4 closed enrollment schools, but people are complaining about the big advantage open enrollment schools have? If almost every school is open enrollment, how is that an advantage? I'm sure I'm misunderstanding something. Can someone explain it to me? Thanks.
  13. If he's playing SR's first then why was a Junior (Harris) starting in the backfield and getting most of the carries the last 2 games? I was at the LexCath game until about 8 minutes left in the game and did not see Hayes on the field. Did he get in at the end? I listened to every play of the Collins game and never heard his name. Is there anybody here that was at both games and saw him out there? And this, all after progress reports came out. Seems curious at the very least that he's suddenly cut from being in the normal RB rotation (and returning kicks) to barely playing (or not playing at all). If there's something going on that shouldn't be discussed here, I apologize and I'll drop it. It's just that he's one of the most exciting players I've seen in a while and was disappointed that he didn't get to play much (if at all) the last couple of games.
  14. Hayes will replace Seidl if he can remain eligible with his grades.
  15. What can possibly be done about it? Not rhetorical. Somehow hamstring the successful programs? I don't think most people like the idea of punishing success. If this was happening in one division, maybe you could tweak something, but since this across the board- small thru large schools- tells me success can be had at every level. This reminds me of the class war in this country. "It's not healthy for those people to have all that money!" Study the successful programs, and do what they do.
  16. 2nd quarter and the announcers are already talking "wait 'til next year" for Collins, and how good they'll be. Uh, this is the 2012 State Championship game you're broadcasting, guys. Favorite quote so far: "And Highlands takes over on downs after that great effort by Page!" as Collins' QB Page comes up short on 4th down. Highlands takes over on downs due to a great effort by the opposing QB? Whatever!
  17. Maybe later the ref's will call "intentional conduct." LOL!
  18. I would tend to think that Coach Mueller is more committed to winning than he is committed to the two-platoon system.
  19. Everybody is predicting a blowout, but looking at Collins' record and scores, they can put some points on the board. This could turn out to be a real shootout. One of the things that would prevent that would be if Collins has a lot of two-way starters. Does anybody know how many (if any) they have? If they have a bunch, then the Birds will wear them down and dominate the second half - as they've done to most of their opponents this season.
  20. I googled for a while and couldn't find a definitive record. Saw where a team in North Carolina won 7 in a row. Anyone? Thanks.
  21. It doesn't matter which team won or lost, the refs were terrible. That's the subject of this thread. If you want to read about who won and why, you can go to the game thread. Did the refs effect the outcome of the game? No. But it's just a shame to see this poor of officiating in the state semifinals.
  22. Coach ran out there. And he was demonstrably angry. Wouldn't call it a "barbaric tirade", but I would call it "unsportsmanlike." Perhaps the thing that saved him from that were the words he spoke (or didn't speak). I'll bet if he had used profanity, or called the ref's "crazy" or "blind" or something like that it would have been 15 yards. Either way, to me, running out to the numbers as a result of impulsive anger goes beyond "sideline management" IMO.
