Trinity 63 Highlands 31 (Scrimmage)

I was a few minutes late and missed the opening kickoff. Didn't see the runback - was that late in the game? -

Clyde, I hope you're right. Maybe I'm just in panic mode - it's the first time I have ever been present for a Highlands loss in the 5 years I've been attending games. Regarding Seidl - I left at the end of the third qtr and only saw one good return. The rest were all inside the 20. -

I was there and Highlands did not look good to me. Trinity players were so fast - kinda like what I've seen Highlands players look like against their competition the last few years. Hayes for HHS didn't seem to have much spring in his step. Seidel (sp?) looks like he's bulked up and lost some quickness. Harris was tough as usual, but it was tough going against the Rocks. Anybody else think Houliston will end up at starting QB before the end of the season? He definitely throws a better ball, IMO. Kinda has happy feet back there, but that will settle down with experience. Highlands defense didn't look like they would have stopped anybody tonight. Poor coverage in the secondary. I really hope Trinity was really that good (they ARE great!) and that HHS will look better against competition on their own level. Yes - Trinity is on another level. -
I've heard he is leaving Auburn.

I've always thought that Dale's purpose in getting Highlands into the National conversation was to get his players exposure to college programs. With their district schedule, even if they played other national powers they still couldn't win the National Championship. Again, I think Dale just wants to be in the national conversation.

Regarding the bolded above: The "victim" in this case is niether "suave" nor "dashing." When my wife saw his pic on Facebook, she said, "She (referring to the teacher) gave up her career and marriage for that?" Also, FYI, my son told me the "victim" has been bragging about nailing this teacher since October. My son just assumed he was joking around. We shall see when the evidence comes out...

What would you do if you were the high school Coach?
nky_harry replied to theguru's topic in Controversial Issues
I think there's a difference between a coach cussing, and a coach calling a player a nasty/cuss name. When I was younger, I heard coaches use lots of colorful language while addressing me, but they never called me a name. There's a big difference, IMO. -
Church Attendance and The Super Bowl

Here's a sample from last year. Part of the rules are that the preachers have to incorporate a random phrase into their sermon. They are given the phrase just as they are starting so it has to be on-the-fly. -
Highlands and Beechwood are public schools, just like Colerain, Campbell County or any other public school. Why do people seem to think that "independent" puts them under some different set of rules, or some advantage. IT DOESN'T!!

How to beat Trinity and Highlands.

Yep. According to KHSAA Highlands has 419 boys, making it the smallest school in 4A. -
Highlands Austin Sheehan offered Preferred Walk on by...

I don't follow your logic. If Sheehan goes to a school that's 2-8 and has 700 people in the stands, he will NOT be on the sidelines - he'll be playing. If he goes to a big school, he'll (maybe) have thousands in the stands, but there's a lesser chance he will play and even big schools go 2-8. And he may be on the sidelines. Generally speaking I think these "tweeners" like Sheehan have a choice between being the big fish in the small pond or the small fish in the big pond. Does that mean they can't become the big fish in the big pond? No, but the chances are pretty slim. But if they go small school and dominate, they may have regrets and what-if's. From a purely football perspective I think Sheehan is a good fit for EKU or a MAC-type school. Big enough to be a challenge and to play some good competition, small enough to get plenty of playing time. None of this is meant as a slight of Sheehan or his talent. I've seen him play and he's very talented. I think, given the opportunity, that he could be an impact player in a big D1 team. My concern is whether he would ever get that opportunity due to the bias regarding his size. The big guys are going to get the first shot and if they do well, he'll linger on the bench. And that would be a shame. -
If I were the guy trying to turn in to the fast food place, I would hope that someone would leave me enough space to get through, but I would never expect someone in a car on the road to back up to accommodate me. You didn't do anything wrong. You should never go in reverse while on the road - unless there are some extreme safety reasons to do so.

Southgate House in Newport, KY is closing for good on Jan. 1

Will be interesting to see if the Thompson House and new Southgate House go after the same artists, or if the Thompson House will try to find it's own niche. -

Great advice. When I graduated high school I had some interest from some small schools: Earlham, Wilmington, Capitol, etc., but none of them had the major I wanted (Industrial Tech), so I went to EKU and didn't play football. My buddy also had interest from those schools, also went to EKU, but wanted to play football so he transferred to Capitol and played for two years. He was a math major, so it was easy for him to find a good football/major match. Bottom line, I have no regrets. I had so much fun in college I don't know how I ever would have had time for football! -

Aaahh, kids puking in the gym in January. HHS Football!! My son is participating in the after-school workouts for the first time this year - says there's some kids upchucking. Warms this ol' footballer's heart. -
I'm so glad my boys play(ed) in the Ft Thomas Jr League. Mandatory playing time for all players. Also one of the big "secrets" of Highlands' success. uk#1fan, enjoy these times, they go by too quick.

Do we really want to get into which politicians look like terrorists, or, maybe, which politicians names look like a terrorist's when you see it on a list? -

More details: http://dailycaller.com/2012/01/23/rand-paul-on-tsa-detainment-i-was-barked-at-do-not-leave-the-cubicle/ But Sen. Paul told TheDC that he certainly felt like he was detained. “If you’re told you can’t leave, does that count as detention?” Paul asked. “I tried to leave the cubicle to speak to one of the TSA people and I was barked at: ‘Do not leave the cubicle!’ So, that, to me sounds like I’m being asked not to leave the cubicle. It sounds a little bit like I’m being detained.” The incident started after the scanner Paul walked through sounded its alarm. Current TSA rules would require Paul to undergo a mandatory pat-down before proceeding to his plane. But Paul told TheDC that the TSA agents caved in after a two-hour battle and allowed him to go through the scanner again without additional physical screening. So, it does sound like he was kind of detained, but on the other hand he was not cooperative, forcing the TSA agents to "cave in after a two-hour battle." -

Yeah, I think it's semantics. If a federal authority stops you and says "Step over into this cubicle please" you probably feel like you're being "detained", when in fact you can leave at any time. And as far as "escorted", if he was taken back into a cubicle farm at the airport, it could be construed as a courtesy to "escort" him out so that he didn't get lost. Tom-AY-to Tom-AH-to... -

TSA source stated he was not detained. Didn't see anything in the posted article about him being "escorted" - said he was "turned away" and left "willingly." Saw another article where Paul says he was "detained" and TSA said he was "escorted" out of the area. -

Dalyn Dawkins RB Trinity Video

I'm sure Trinity has an outstanding O-line, but... Breaking tackles - that's all Dawkins. Faking defensive players out of their cleats - that's all Dawkins. Outrunning players that appear to have the angle on him - that's all Dawkins. Amazing player and I can't wait to see him live at HHS this August. -
