Early Look at 9th Region Softball
Pretty sure HC has some 8th graders playing freshman hoops.

Poor shooting or did Frederick struggle to get open or both?

Holmes vs Covington Catholic Predictions
Not sarcastic. Pauly does a nice job on D. Plus CCH is great at trapping and help D. They don't stand around and watch another player go one-on-one. Key to the game. If Holmes is quick enough to break the trap, they will be going one on one which will be to their advantage.

Holmes vs Covington Catholic Predictions
You can say this about most teams, stop their best player and you win. While CCH has 4 in double figures, it all starts with Ruthsatz creating opportunities for these guys. His penetration has given Tobler so many easy buckets that he does not get on his own. He can kick it out to Frederick for shots Frederick cannot create on his own. So, yes CCH has 4 in double figures, but on their own, only one is an offensive threat by themselves.

9th Region this year? Who wins it, which teams/players are to watch?
Baseball is a funny sport. You got 9 guys playing but it only takes 1 pitcher to ruin a teams season in the playoffs. So call CCH underachieving but if you get one hot pitcher at the wrong time, any team can go down.

Covington Catholic 68 McNicholas (OH) 54
Very little substitution in second half until late in 4th quarter. Played starters all 3rd period when they pulled ahead. First sub came on when Hayden gets hurt.

Injury update on Hayden?

Tobler probably led them in scoring as they dished to him for layins throughout game. Cov Cath struggled with rebounding against some taller fellas. Some poor shot selection at times. Transition lay ups and solid passing by Ruthsatz. I have never seen a kid throw up more off balance three pointers than 14 for McNick.

Pendleton County 100 Covington Catholic 94 (4OT)
Cov Cath Radio mentions need to rebound better. This is a small, somewhat scrawny team. A couple of guys will be liabilities on defense. They will struggle against teams that have size and have any semblance of an inside/out game. That said, they hit their 3's they win this one. As for foul differential, only Ruthsatz driving or Haydon getting ball down low will get fouls. Most others are not able to take ball off the dribble in half court to draw fouls. This team will lose foul battle all year.

Zeke Pike - Army All American
Someone asked how he warranted the recognition and my response was that it was based on his being a highly rated recruit, not how he did on the field. How did he become a big recruit, his size and what he did in camps as you mentioned. But camps is not on-field performance. Yes, his high school team was bitten by injuries, graduation, and lack of leadership. It is a story worth watching how he will pan out.

Zeke Pike - Army All American
This award is not for on-field achievement but for being a highly rated recruit. There are qb's all across the country who had great years, better years than he had. He had a subpar year. This is based solely on his potential as a recruit, a physical specimen, nothing more.

NDA grads lead Morehead State to NCAA Tournament
Blue talking 8th grade at BS is great, Draud in 7th grade is great, we'll wait and see on 5th graders. Hentz at BS is one of best 8th graders. St Agnes has a couple of studs.

Lakota East 56 NDA 46
Did not see Thelen's name in box score. Did she play?

NDA grads lead Morehead State to NCAA Tournament
Nope. The talent is dry at Pius. Players are at Blessed Sacrament and St Agnes. Draud's daughter is going to be something.

Holy Cross (Covington) 2011/2012
I believe their district is Covington, Independence, Taylor Mill and Clifton.

Covington Catholic 2011/2012
Very hard to speculate, though no major contributors back from last year. Play all the juniors and sophs to build for next year.

Covington Catholic 2011/2012
This could be a long year for Colonels. Lack size to compete inside. Guards are small in height, will they be strong and quick enough to defend and get open to create shots. I know Frederick has nice range but it does him no good if he can't get open. The big men made up for a lot of the guard liabilities last two years. It will be interesting to see how this develops.

How good is the Cody kid for Ludlow?

Colerain (OH) Coach Confronts St. Xavier (OH) Student Section
Now, about Bolden. H=Is he under pressure which is why he had that reaction? Typically has great talent. Will win their share of games but has been underwhelming and not as feared since Coombs left.

Slick, you're missing the point on Coombs, HE BUILT COLERAIN. Bolden's job is to not mess it up.

It's too bad. A couple are choosing the wrong sport.

Moneyball the Movie
Mainly the stat piece, which made Moneyball different from some good old fashioned values.

Moneyball the Movie
Looking back, I think think Moneyball the philosophy has proven to be flawed. Small market clubs are reverting to the 90's Indians, draft and retain your own, and emphasize lots of pitching.
