I don't think the freshman regional games start until next week.

Birds jumped out to a 4-0 lead in large part due to several errors by Conner. First run was driven in by 7th grader Frinfrock. Walkenhorst scattered several hits over 4 innings but was able to get out of trouble in each of the 1st 4 innings. Conner scored 3 times in the 5th. Orne allowed 1 run over 3+ innings of relief to record the win. Schultz had a couple of base hits for the Birds. Winning run in the 8th inning scored on an error by Conner. # 44 and 17 threw good games for Conner.

Highlands 8. St. Henry 7. Birds score 4 in the top of the 7th to win on the road. Great facility and ball park. Has to be the most cavernous outfield in N.Ky. Key hits by Doty and Cain to lead the late comeback.

Highlands 2012
I think the JV may be playing 3 of them this year.

Cincinnati St. Xavier 4 Highlands 3 (in 9 innings). 7th grader Ethan Doty throws 7 strong innings for the Birds. Birds hit the ball hard most of the game but it seemed every ball was hit right @ a St. X player. Connor Kreeger leads the Birds with 3 hits.

Great outing for Mr. Raisor.. just ran out of steam in the 7th inning. Shout out to Jeff Orne for getting the save with bases loaded in the 7th and not allowing any of them to score. Diving catch by Keelan Donovan to preserve the win for the Birds, who are now 3-5 on the season.

Highlands 3 Boone County 0 (Frosh)
Birds took 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Bunning in the 5th inning, scoring Heck. Scored 2 insurance runs in the 6th inning, one of which was on a bases load walk. 3rd run (I think) was driven in by Heck.

Boone County vs Knott County Central Updates
Unless things get turned around in a hurry, looks like another early exit flame out by the 9th region representative.

Prep football 10 years from now in NKY
I heard recently that bass fishing may become a KHSAA sanctioned sport... although it would conflict with football because it would be a fall sport.

2012 Top NKY Freshman Teams and Players to watch?
Last year's Ryle squad was all freshman as I recall and was also loaded with talent throughout their lineup. I think Boone was the same but I'm not as sure about the Rebels.

Highlands Offseason Football Thread
If you'd like to start a thread about Lexington Catholic's off season football thread have at it. I'm sure several posters on this thread would chime in... As for the topic at hand, the rifles are being cleaned this spring for reloading in the summer and fall. Go Birds!

I think there are approximately 15 or 16 football players who are playing baseball for the Birds this spring.

2012 Top NKY Freshman Teams and Players to watch?
I think he's a sophomore at Bellevue. Huff was a young man playing vs. boys in his knothole days. Very physically mature as a youngster.

Patrick Towles (Highlands '12) wins 2011 That's My Boy Award
We thought the same thing after he pronounced his name... although Coach Wirth did give PT props for taking the Colonels to the woodshed a time or two.

Congrats to Patrick on the latest hardware to be bestowed on this great young man. BBN is very proud of you.

Highlands vs Erlanger Lloyd Predictions
Guard Carter New was missing the 1st time these 2 teams met and Lloyd forced countless turnovers. Having him back for the rematch should help some as he is likely the best HHS has for a ball handler. Looking for a closer game in the rematch. Bray swatted 2 shots in the early minutes of the 1st game. The kid can really sky... although he seemed to be injured on again off again that night too. I've only seen him the 1 time but he plays with a lot of passion. Unless Lloyd is making 3s like the 1st meeting, I think the 1st team to 50 wins the rematch. Highlands 51 Lloyd 47

Newport Central Catholic 49 Highlands 44
If they continue to fire up the first 3 they get, which often leads to a miss and long rebound, quicker teams like Holmes will benefit from transition baskets. I agree with others that they have to be more balanced if they are going to contend at BOK for the regional title this year.
- Mason County 72 Augusta 71

Newport Catholic 68 Newport 38
Given the closeness of the HHS v. Dayton game, I don't think anyone in Ft. Thomas is overlooking Bellevue tonight. Good win for the Breds. They'll have to get more production from Schulte if they expect to challenge Boone, Dixie, Holmes, and the CovCath/Holy Cross winner for the 2012 Regional title

NC's McDonald Status?
With Morse providing bulk inside and Schulte's size, NCC should be able to win by 12-15 points even without McDonald.
