Cooper 5 Beechwood 3
Amen Brother. HHS JV played at Boone yesterday and the wind was howling in from the outfield. The American flag was stiff the whole game.

St. Henry 3 Boone County 0
Is Cam Faehr getting a lot of reps on Boone's varsity squad. He was effective last year as a frosh on varsity and was curious where he's playing this season.

Campbell County 5 Ryle 4 (Frosh)
Griffin's a nice kid to boot. Glad to hear he is having success. Coached his older brother Grant years ago in knothole ball. His parents are great folks.

Covington Catholic 9 -4
Mod may wish to add the opponent to the title thread.

All 9 starters had at least 1 hit. SO Ramey drives in 3 runs for the Birds. SO Ball hurls a complete game scattering 6 hits over 6 innings, striking out 4 and walking only 2. Ryle is lead by N. Berg and Boswell with 2 hits each. Lonneman (4 innings) and Allen (2 innings) pitched for Ryle

What kind of calls? Balls and strikes?

Cooper 8 Highlands 7 (frosh)
I had the final 8-6 Cooper. Cooper was lead by #52 and 57 with 2 hits each and the Birds were lead by Mark Walkenhorst's 3 hits. Sorry I don't have the names. As is not unusual for frosh games, both teams had multiple errors that lead to runs. # 17 started and got the win for Cooper. Kreeger started for the Birds. Trailing 8-2 heading to the bottom of 7, the Birds plated 4 runs and had the tying runs on base when the third out was made. Birds play a DH today at Highland Park to round out a full week of home games during spring break.

Best Catchers
A professional catcher I know said last year that while pop times are important, how a catcher frames pitch after pitch is more important. After all, in an average game a catcher receives 90+ pitches and throws down to 2nd or 3rd a few times a game. It's so much more than pop times.

Highlands 14 Covington Catholic 6 (Frosh)
I think it's Mark Bogenshutz. Not sure if he's the head coach but I do know he works with the pitchers.

Newport Central Catholic 7 Dixie Heights 0 (Frosh)
Mod needs to change the title to reflect the game was a frosh game.

Highlands 5 Butler 2 (JV) (at Oldham County)
Highlands JV improves to 7-0 on the young season to sweep the 4 games in Oldham County. 8th grader Ethan Doty throws 6 strong innings scattering 4 hits and striking out 7 while walking none. FR Ricky Raisor gets the last 3 outs and the save on a triple play in the bottom of the 7th. After allowing the 1st two runners to reach, a line out on a hit and run lead to a Heck to Bunning to Orne triple play. JV Birds off until Saturday when they play a DH vs. Lloyd and Ryle.
-
Highlands 3 South Oldham 2 (JV) (at Oldham County)
Highlands JV improves to 6-0 by sweeping the 2nd game of a DH. SO Keelan Donovan, SO Lou Bunning, and SO Jeff Orne combine on a 1 hitter. After 4 weeks of rehabbing it was nice to see Bunning back on the bump for the Birds.
-
Highlands 8 Christian Academy of Louisville 4 (JV) (at Oldham County)
Highlands JV improves to 5-0 with another outstanding pitching performance by SO Kenny Ball who goes 6 innings on the bump with no earned runs. Birds are lead at the plate by SO Lou Bunning, Ball, and FR Ricky Raisor with 2 hits each to lead a 9 hit attack.

Covington Catholic 4 Simon Kenton 3 (JV)
Good work by Heppler and Galvin, 16U Ky Colonels.
-
Highlands 9 Elder 5 (JV)
JV Birds put up a 6 spot in top of the 3rd inning to give SO Grayson Heck a lead that they would never relinquish. FR Ricky Raisor finishes up the birds on the bump, who improve to 3-0 on the young season. Birds now travel to Oldham County for 4 games in 3 days beginning Monday night. New facilities at Elder are excellent.
-
Highlands 17 Carroll County 0 (JV) (4 innings)
Todd Ramey leads the offensive attack for the Birds with a 3 run home run and a double as the JV Birds improve to 2-0 on the season. Kenny Ball improves to 2-0 on the bump. Birds play at Elder today and then travel to Oldham County to play 4 games in 3 days next week.

-
Bishop Brossart 5 Trinity 4
St. Mary's field is nice... but not close to being one of the nicest home ball parks in N.Ky.
-
How many fields are ready to play right now?
If the forecast for the "white death" is correct, I don't think anyone will be playing in N.Ky. next Monday
-
Notre Dame 57 Madison Central 53 (OT)
Yes sir.

Highlands 2013
Coach Mueller has been compared to Bill Nye the science guy. I think he also teaches AP Calculus when he isn't teaching AP Physics.
