That was a rough one to watch. There seems to be a lot of hype surrounding this team and in time they may deserve that hype, but not tonight. The offense is still finding its identity and rightfully so. I thought the defense played pretty good, for the most part. There's plenty to work on between week one and week two.

I have a feeling this game will be much closer than most expect.

I talked to a guy not long ago who is very intent on starting a K-6 soccer league at Raceland-Worthington. I told him he was crazy and that the football gods would never let that happen.

What does Fairview have, outside of Roy and Washington? Their defensive line play was atrocious last year, has that improved? The running game was nonexistent last year, has that improved? Who's stepping up to fill Blake Smith's shoes?

Yea, that's also the year they spent $180,000 on the football program, while only reporting $27,000 to the state. I know it costs a lot of money to run a high school football program, but $180,000, are you kidding me? Especially when the school was falling apart.

Thought all of this had nothing to do with football. Hmm...

That's a tough schedule, I'm guessing 5-5, maybe 6-4.

I think Paintsville has a regular season game with Williamsburg.

Fairview will need to develop someone to replace Blake Smith, otherwise Washington will be facing double coverage all year. Their running game also needs to improve drastically.

I honestly don't think Mayfield will have any problems with Williamsburg. Raceland had an off night in all phases of the game, but they still managed to hold Williamsburg to seven points in the first half and 14 after three quarters. Mayfield is much deeper than Raceland and they have a larger pool of athletes, not to mention the fact that they probably have the best defense in 1A. This is just my opinion, I'm not trying to hate on Williamsburg.

This drill you guys are talking about is nothing compared to what Lowery did to Messer, absolutely nothing in common. Everyone of you want to bash the kid for the cheap shot on your kicker and rightfully so, but to sit there and act like what Lowery did is simply part of the game is asinine. A cheap shot is a cheap shot. What the kid from Raceland did is cowardice and the same goes for the kid from Williamsburg.

Didn't say it wasn't and I'm not defending it either.

Congrats to Williamsburg. I feel like Raceland's defense played one heck of a game, too bad our offense was sputtering.

I think Fairview had to go through Hazard to make it to the title game.
