Report: Musick violated state election law

By MIKE JAMES The Independent

Among its findings:

Musick moved Garry McPeek to the elementary school as physical education teacher in the 2013-2014 school year, but McPeek was rarely present.

Previous to that, the class was changed to a “physical activity class” and classified employee Paula Robertson was assigned to teach and supervise students.

Nathan McPeek was listed as teacher for advanced physical education although he did not have certification for that subject, and the class was actually taught by Kyle McKnight, who held no certification. McKnight also supervised the in-school suspension classroom.

So, Assistant Football coach Gary McPeek was demoted from principal and coach to PE teacher for a class that he apparently didn't show up for but was paid for. And Head Football Coach Nathan McPeek was listed to teach a class that he wasn't certified to teach and allowed a non teacher who was an Assistant Football Coach to teach. Amazing.

Was there anything done at Fairview that was real? Was it all a facade that was put up to look like a real school was there?

Are we really surprised by this?

Nope, but there is some vindication for the people that said this stuff was going on was labeled "haters" because there wasn't state findings to prove what was being said. Now, there are three sets of state findings to prove those people were right.

Advanced physical education? Really?! Is that a college credit course?!

I've advanced my physical education at times, usually following a fifth of vodka

Why doesn't KHSAA just basically give them the death sentence? That football program should be abolished from playing in any KHSAA sanctioned events period.

Because the actions stated hear have nothing to do with football. These are Education/personnel issues.

Should anyone had read page two of this article - another upstanding point was made ... the superintendent brought a loaded gun to a meeting at the elementary school ... took it out and set it on a table, "spun" it around and it stopped pointing directly at an individual that was sitting at the table. (one can use the same link that Ram provided on this thread). Of course, I will note that the superintendent denied this. I guess with his "alleged" threats to some about keeping their mouth shut on another topic or "pink slips would be flying" that more than likely there was something to keep their mouth shut about, uh ?

Also, there were not any other charges on collecting state funds for the out of state kids that were brought in for the football program due to they provided addresses that were in the Fairview district for these children. I wonder if those kids living in houses / rental property that was owned by the superintendent had a connection to the addresses given ?

I didn't hear any other charges on the football program from this report from the state. That program I believe is still under a probation from the illegal workings of that program. The KHSAA handles the sports allegations part of it, I am not sure if all of their investigations are complete. Fairview football had been under KHSAA investigations on more than one occasion in the past.

What an Outfit out there in Westwood :ohbrother:. From the way it sounds the only things left on the schools workings that were found legal were the ones that were convietly covered under "technicalities" let's just say.

The real sad thing is that the only ones that really were hurt were the kids, parents of the Westwood community. I am actually surprised that the Fairview schools weren't just put under the Boyd Co. School system or having the State take over the school system as they did at Greenup Co. a few years back.

I do hope that whoever the new superintendent will be can bring credibility back to their school system. The kids, parents, taxpayers in Westwood deserve it.

Correct. That (further football allegations / penalties) may or may not be coming from the KHSAA.

I disagree, these violations resulted in direct correlation with football: one football coach was given a position that he didn't show up for but was paid for, one coach was allowed to teach PE to given him a soft schedule even though he was not certified to teach that class, one football coach was allowed to teach the head football coach's classes for him and that coach was not even a teacher, and money was misappropriated to be used "elsewhere", guess where "elsewhere" was and the hiring process was interfered with to hire who? This was all about football.

I have heard McPeek's name mentioned in association with a Rowan County opening.

Gary McPeek has been hired at Letcher County Central. As far as I know, Nathan McPeek is still working in Georgia.

Sure they do. The sanctions were passed down because of the Football program. It has everything to do with Football.

Remember though in KY Coaching positions and Teacher positions are separated.
