Usually, and I say usually, the people who don't side with us is the ones who don't do things correctly or just plain out hate the orange and black. Either or, GO RAMS.

It's okay to have adult disagreements and if I offended anyone I'm very sorry. I understand this is still a heated debate and that Raceland/Fairview people don't like one another. I'm just a Nathan McPeek fan and I think he did an outstanding job at Fairview. Chad Tackett did a good job as well but was aided by Chris Jennings and Stephen Crisp as well, but it seems many don't bring that up. The KHSAA stuff was unfortunate but they did self-report and self-punished themselves. Talent is talent but still needs coached and I think McPeek did an outstanding job of molding those kids IMO. Anyway, I wish everyone the best of luck with their respected programs and stay injury free.

Doc #2 , I have nothing personal against you, hell I don't even know you personally. I do greatly disagree with you on several points / comments. You are obviously loyal to Fairview and that's fine. I bolded the comment on Nate McPeek to agree with you in that the man is an excellent football coach and from what all I have seen and heard he treats his players really well. I personally believe that Gary McPeek, a good coach himself, was more in to the extra / alleged illegal activities bc I have heard some things that went on when Gary was coaching at Lawrence Co. from a booster there. I certainly won't go into that and just mentioned bc of history of alleged trouble before.

I guess that like a lot of Raceland alums, fans I felt vindicated when all of the Fairview posters on here (several who have gone, left mad, embarrassed or for whatever reason) flat out accused myself along with other Raceland fans on bgp of Lying about what was going on out there, why and who it was directing everything. I basically was right on every statement that I and others made when the charges, sanctions came down. A lot of things that may have "been legal" had things less than admirable attached. WVA kids living in the superintendents rental houses, rent free (bills sent to Fairview Administrators office and home), Certain hires in the FHS system, providing transportation, etc.. One gets the idea

Also, I had a Very Close family member of mine who Heard it word for word from One of the Fairview "administrators" as far back as 2001, 02 in the season that Jennings was brought in from W.VA. He (family member) was also told by the same individual that they had a connection and weren't going to stop with one kid ..... that the Rose Hill basketball coach (who happened to be an FHS grad)was getting the basketball players (Mayo and others) and that Fairview would take football players / athletes. Rose Hill was caught and that ended it for them. Fairview (same people mentioned) backed off for a few years and then started it all up again along with adding one or more kids each season. After a while I guess they got really arrogant with it, started boasting about it to everyone. They (Fairview) were so wrapped up and arrogant with it that they, themselves were boasting and laughing about it. Finally, all caught up with them and Fairview has no one to blame or be disgusted with but themselves.

 

I Also pray that no kids playing at Fairview or Raceland (any school for that matter) suffer any injury at any time this season. Again ... I have nothing personal against you #2 , talon or other bgp / FHS posters. I will say admit that yes, I am an Orange and Black blood through my veins Ram and No, I don't like Fairview .... the school, team rivalry and not meant to the individuals.

A lot of Belfrys better players come from other schools or places in WV but it's because of the schools rich tradition in their winning program that attracts area studs. I don't have any problem at all with a school receiving transfers as long as it's the child and his parents decision. If they wake up one day and think "You know...I think Ashland is a better fit for me" than that's awesome. But when a coach or faculty or an assistant either makes 1st contact or persuades a player I feel that's when the corruption begins. Just my opinion.

I agree. My point was the "extra" activity at the school in Westwood. I have no problem with kids transferring In State, say from Russell to Ashland as you mentioned. Every school has those kids from other districts. All schools have some of district kids. Out of state transfers with the kind of, lets say "questionable" dealings, methods along with some out right Illegal methods used are the ones that I am talking about and those took place far more than once at the previous school mentioned.

As an outside observer, I've found this whole Fairview thing fascinating. A couple takeaways for me:

 

• Sounds like this Musick feller is a classic anachronism from the Good 'Ol Boy days in Ky. A real Boss Hogg type.

 

• The talk about McPeek reminds me of a conversation I had with an old-school coach at the end of his long run about 10 years or so ago. We were discussing a transfer situation at another school within his district that seemed a bit shady. I asked him what he thought about it and he said, "Yeah, well, we ain't exactly been clean over the years," and proceeded to tell me some very interesting stories from back in the day.

Fairview, Musick were illegal in actions/activities in the program and bosters. Only a couple were mentioned/charged in the khsaa charges. IMO Fairview did nothing that was legit. At best it was unethical and motivated by greed, a few peoples own personal ego and thoughtless to the hometown kids that grew up in Westwood area, parents paying taxes to that system only to see illegal activity from the very top on down. in the way the school was ran, the football program known as "Westwood Prep Academy" or "KYOHWVA All Stars"..........

I heard from fans at schools from different areas of the state on what they were doing and the arrogance of that administration and coaching staff. One man in Lexington / LCA had told me that when asking a Fairview coach about their game with Raceland that he was told "I / We are Recruiting Raceland out of the picture". No one out there would tell you this but I am serious when I say that from Paul Reliford in the early 70's on through Cooksey, Smith, Tackett, Music, McPeek when he got there that Fairview had, probably still has a One goal, One game season...... to beat Raceland. That's not me going on - that's the truth, I have had people living in Westwood, Fairview teachers (had a relative that was a teacher at Fairview for a while quite a few years ago and laughed about it) and alums tell me that. I realize that particular fact/facts are not directly tied to the troubles in Westwood now but it does give an idea on how their mindset is. I will also say that no previous Fairview coaches, until B. Musick returned to his alma mater to coach and as principal were going outside the lines legally or ethically. C. Tackett coached there (and did a great job) after Music, wouldn't go along with what they were wanting and going to do so Exit Tackett - enter Musick as superintendent, both McPeeks .....as principal, asst. coach and head coach and to the three years of separate investigations, charges, penalties / sanctions, probation.

I think it was the recent success that lured the kids to Fairview. The Raceland fans on this board has spouted off for years about the Fairview situation.

 

Here's my take on the situation-

 

2012- Raceland contacted KHSAA insiders on 2 transfers from WV. The incident was investigated and investigated and investigated until a enrollment date discrepancy was found. KHSAA got what they wanted and ruled the 2 ineligible. Fairview appealed the decision and the Kentucky Supreme Court agreed with Fairview, the date issue was not the fault of the 2 students and thus allowed them to play. Another issue of expulsion was brought up and challenged, but WV had dropped the expulsion, making that a moot point.

 

In the end KHSAA was angry, and later set for revenge for getting trumped in the courtroom.

 

2013- Fairview going 14-1 in 2012 got the attention many local kids who lived in WV. The flood gate opened and many kids transferred to Fairview. No proof was ever produced to show recruiting. Those kids just wanted to be on a winning team. That can not be understood or accepted by the Raceland fans on this board.

 

Mid season it was discovered that (ONE KENTUCKY) player was placed in the wrong grade. Fairview self reported and this gave KHSAA the grounds to strip the 2012 season wins and post season play in 2013. Most of the better players left Fairview. KHSAA got it's revenge!

 

After all the investigations and allegations of the football program, the reports and findings did not back up the tripe spread on this board. Free rent, utilities, bona-fide moves, ect.... Nada- just one player from Ashland who was placed in the wrong grade. A few PE classes subbed by coaches... Wow that's a school worthy of the death penalty. I would be willing to bet that most schools have similar issues.

 

The kids that played and won those games in 2012-2013 still left the field winners. They still have the team plaques, trophies, headlines and most importantly the memories. The paper record might say otherwise, but I would rather have won on the field any day. The KHSAA assisted losers are left to boast about a paper win.
