I have a question, does Harvard give out athletic scholarships? I've heard that Hempel received a football scholarship, but I was under the impression Ivy league schools did not give out athletic scholarships.

You are missing the point of the post, it was not intended to refer to any individual players. Obviously you have some realationship or something to take such offense to my post. Sparta is a really nice short stop with speed and a nice stick. My point was, SOME KIDS ARE NOT GETTING THE RECONGNITION AT THIS POINT BECASUE THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO PLAY ON THE SAME STAGE AS SOME OF THE KIDS THAT ARE PLAYING VARSITY AS AN 8th or 9th grader because of the school they are attending. Regardless how talented they are, it will not happen. Some coaches do not have to bring young players up because they have the talent already on the Varsity team. Also, These are pretty good baseball players you are referring too, but during the summer they play with other kids their age that are just as good. The only difference is some of the other kids are not getting noticed at this time because they are not getting varsity time at their current school because of the talent of the baseball at that school. The post didnt state that Sparta or any other the other kids mentioned were not top freshman...I simply stated, in the future we will hear names of other players because they will be on the same stage. You need to get a grip and not take the post so personal. Like I said before, it depends on the numbers and the success of the school you are playing at for instance. Since you didn't refer to any of the other freshman but the kid at Scott I will refer to them. Scott had 20 player on the team last year, 9 were either 8th, 9th, or 10th grade. This is the point I'm making. By the way, Scott's baseball program went17-18 this past year. It's funny how you tried to make it personal with your last statement, " If you or your son are not getting the recognition you think you deserve, then I suggest you seek ooprtunties that will enhance that". Some players don't need their parents or freinds of the program to push for them.

Reed Sparta is a pretty good freshman, but he benefits like others do from being at a school that are low in numbers or frankly their baseball programs are not very good. There are freshman at the bigger schools that are pretty well established Boone and Ryle for example that have very good freshman but are not on this list because of the reasons I mentioned above. Hopefully, in the near future we will hear the names of these ball players. No knock on the others that were mentioned in the post because I have seen these players in action and they are good ballplayers..

My fault Hump I didn't meant to attach it to your comment...About the turf, If I'm not mistaken, turf was offered to be put in for one school in Boone county, it did not happen because if one had it, then all others had to have it also.

I am tired of folks trying to make the excuse about Trinity winning because of numbers and money. If you look at Boone County Schools you could make the same arguments about Ryle here in Boone County. If I'm not mistaken they are the biggest high school and they draw from several middle schools in the area. Not to mention they get all of the Gray Middle School kids, which is the biggest middle school in Boone County. Also, they get are privileged to more than most of the other high schools need I mention turf field, a ship that shoots off canons when they score. So would we say that's why they run the table in Boone County football?

Yeah, and the Ryle announcers are on the broadcast throwing a feel sorry for Ryle this year with all the injuries they have had. LOL

I was curious about the stats so, I went to the KHSAA website and looked up the stats for Boone this past season. According to the stats Boone ran the ball 465 times compared to passing 100 times for the year. I don't know about you, but that doesn't seem like a recipe for winning games.

I know Doss is a junior, but if I'm not mistaken he will be too old to play his senior year..Correct?

Only one way to solve this, have Highlands, St. X, or whomever else schedule games against the top dogs int the state of OH on a consistent basis....
