Jon Jones, in my mind, is the best 8th Region coach, hands down. He gets the most out of his players than any other coach, every year. Hats off to Gallatin for this win over Walton & SK.

I will be attending this one as well! I'm going with Walton by 7. Should be a very fun game to watch with a lot of good guards from both teams!

If Williamstown hits their free throws it will be a close game, as this rivarly usually is. That being said, Grant is going to foul (a lot) and put pressure on the guards. So Williamstown needs to take care of the ball and make free throws. I'm predicting Williamstown with the upset at home. Grant has played two weak teams prior to this game and I don't think their players will be ready for the intensity of this cross-town rival.

New comers and youth. Two players are transfers and two players haven't played basketball in a couple years (almost 100% sure on this). Team chemistry takes time.

Once WV gets all the kinks worked out, they're going to be tough! Helton played a heck of a game.

Walton Verona could not get an offensive flow going, played very hard overall. They hustled and played smart team defense, which kept them in the game. Congratulations to Cooper, they played an exceptional game from a shooting standpoint (especially first half). It will be interesting to watch WV grow as a team throughout the season with their new talent and youth!

19 is a bit much especially for a school with 1,100 kids. Confidence takes you so far. At some point you have to improve by competing against fair competition. Record means nothing during the tournament. If you have to take some beatings to make your team better than so be it.

They play 15 'A' schools excluding district rivals and Henry. I am quite positive they are no longer class 'A'. Can anyone clarify that about Henry?

As to Jalen transfering to Walton. Let's not make assumptions as to why this decision was made and vilify his parent's decision. This is a forum on High School athletics. Not the Dr. Phil show so I politely request you keep your personal opinions about raising your kids to yourself. I played with Jalen 3 years ago and he was/has been steps ahead of his peers in basketball. Grant will lose their best all-around player with the highest basketball IQ (It runs in their family). He is a great ball-handler, sees the floor, excellent passer, can shoot off the dribble and makes the players around him better. If anyone with common basketball knowledge watched the Braves (9-20) last year Jalen was obviously mis-used. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize you do not stick a player like him in the corner or on the free throw line setting screens for the entire game. Jalen is assiduous about his athletics/academics and his transfer was decided in his best interest. I look forward to supporting Walton this year as they will have a very talented team. As to Grant County, their administration and coaching staff as a collective, have lost support from myself. I do not see the reasoning for pursuing the ineligibility of a 17-year old when the move was legal in every aspect of the KHSAA by-laws. Btw, I am very biased toward Jalen. Blood is thicker than water. :walk:

I still have yet to figure out why Kinmon isn't running the point. Sees the floor better than any other player on the team, isn't selfish and can create for other players. Which would be useful for their dribble drive offense.

Stay positive. Young team and remember a lot of players read these forums. Negative remarks just makes situations worse which is the majority of the problem in Grant County.

I'm pretty sure you are refering to Jonathon Robbins (Junior). I don't know his number but when you said exceptional defense I assume that's who you are talking about.
