Very good week for Boone going 3-0.

Walton got down by about 20 in the first quarter and fought their way back to within 2 points on a couple of occasions but they could never get over the hump. It would have been easy for them to pack it in but they never quit fighting.

Keep your heads up boys it is early in the season you should be fine once you find your team chemistry. This one was close I expect the Cottral kid will really help once he gets it going.

Chase Stanley had 30. 6 3s.

Boone was on fire early in the first qtr. They had 24pts with 2 min to go in the qtr and we were saying that they would break 100 at that rate. Stanley and McQueary were abusing them.

Walton made some switches and put McNeil on McQueary and that really slowed the scoring pace down. (plus walton played better defense as a whole).

I think Walton might of taken a lead for a couple secs in the fourth on a 3 by McNeil.

With 2 min to go Boone was up 57-55 and Walton had the ball and took a bad 3pter that missed and Boone hit from the line to finish it out. You better not lose Stanley or McQueary on offense or they will knock down the open jumpers.

Good job Boone, and Walton will win plenty of games this year.

Walton took the lead 2 times in 4th quarter. The one Walton guard seemed to me to get selfish in the 4th quarter he got subbed in and started trying to go one on one and turned the ball over three times in a row andbboone turned them into points he went out Walton made a good run then a bad three late killed the rally.

 

I think Walton played some good d in the 2-3 with Mosier in the middle would like to see more of that.

Interesting that a 6' kid can slow down a strong 6'5 kid in Mcqueary. They should have posted him up or did they. McNeil must be a heckuva defender.

They did but walton would drop a defender and double, and if he would bring the ball down to face up, mcniel seemed to knock it away.

Walton was down 18 to 2 instantly. Helton and Kinmon came into the game and changed the tempo on defense which helped the offense get going. When Kinmon gets comfortable on offense and Cottrell and Helton start clicking on all cyclinders this could be a very good team. Mcneil and Hargett are their go to guys but they have to let their teammates help. If Hargett decides to play defense and rebound the sky is the limit for this team.

I also thought Daugherty did good he guarded stanly and seemed to slow him down when he was in there, needs to get into basketball shape still but had good minutes. Kinmon was good with the ball like to see him work on his shot it was a knuckel ball a little spin i think they drop.

Did WV try anything different to stop Stanley from 3?
