Unfortunately, this may be the only consistent team in the region but they consistently under perform.

Augusta with a perfect 1st half start which carried them to victory. As OC stated great ball movement and aggressive defense..........team win........

Obviously, there isn't a favorite; the season has proven that. However, I said in December and maintain that it's the team that comes to the tournament playing the best at that time. Beyond that, I'd say any team that makes the tournament will have an opportunity to win it.......

Gotta be Randy Parker. Smooth delivery, accurate stats, dominates in all phases of the game. "The Franchise" tag belongs on him.

I continue to be amazed at where some of these threads start and finish. Can't say that some of our BGP posters don't hit all the points....... regardless of the relation to thread topic.

Mike Code could be COY every year as he's one of the best ever in my opinion but I think Matt Taylor at St. Pat should get the nod this year. He has done more with less (no offense to St. Pat's players) than anyone else this year. I also believe that he has done this over several years and developed players to make them better. IMHO

He'd have my vote if I had one. This guy is a great Coach.

Politics? Say it ain't so. I just can't believe that (tongue in cheek, lol, etc). It's more political than most anything I know and the decision is made by a small group of totally biased people.

I have always been one who advocates that this should be the player that stands out beyond statistical information. Best ppg scorer, rebounder, % shooter, etc. are all criteria that should be taken into account but beyond statistics I consider team w/l record, does he make players around him better?, is he supportive of teammates or belittling? , is he respectful of Coaches, Referees, Fans?, does his ego exceed his talent level? and that's how I define it. In fairness, I haven't seen enough games this year to offer an opinion but again, I think these traits are what makes a statistically good or even great player into the POY. Obviously, one man's opinion.

I was impressed with St. Pat when they last played Augusta and if Augusta doesn't come ready to play, it'll be a very sad night for my Panthers, especially our extraordinary Seniors. However, I believe they will prevail in this one. As for the BC and MC game, I expect it to be a close, hard fought game but BC's task is much easier this year than when we (Augusta) last knocked them off in the district. That year they we're #10 in the State and consensus #1 in the Region so I think BC will be up to the task in this one as they are pretty evenly matched going in. A BC vs' Augusta final with Augusta pulling out a 1 point win in double OT. With that said, I think whoever wins or is runner-up in this district will have as good a chance as anyone to play at Rupp.

The draw is the draw but every team better bring their "A" game if they intend to advance. Augusta pulled out an "ugly" win vs' St. Pat recently and Mason squeaked by BC at BC earlier in the year.

This thread and the best scorers thread debate could be easily and clearly determined if someone sets the criteria for selection. FG%, minimum # of attempts per game, ppg, ft %, etc. You name the criteria and you get the answers because these are quantifiable.

In terms of parity yes. In terms of quality teams and players no.

Big win for PC. 38th looks pretty clear to me at this point.

Great win for RC. Tough year for them so any win is a positive. They're a couple of years away but will be competitive again as they're 5-8th grade kids get there.

9 games left with 3 sure wins. They're 9-8 now so how they finish will be important. Mentally going into the District at 18-8 would be much better than 12-14 or 14-12, etc. for this team IMHO. Confidence is important at tournament time regardless of who you draw.

This guy is a great Coach and better person. Happy for his accomplishment.

This is the first year I could really say this in the 150 years I've watched basketball but I think that this year, the draw is less important in determining the ultimate outcome than in any previous year. It's literally a dead heat IMHO.
