I like that idea. It rewards the school and the teams that win the District and adds even more importance to District Championships.

Walton has a history of out of district players.... both girls and boys. It's no secret. If a player (and parents) are looking for a small school with high academics and an opportunity to play in the All A Classic as well as region.... Walton offers that environment. Nothing wrong with wanting something different. -

Looking into the future WV and Simon will battle for the next 3 to 4 years. Who ever can finish down the stretch will win. During the season WV had the lead in both games and Simon finished down the stretch. In the District Championship Simon leads and WV finishes down the stretch. -
I have known Alan 34yrs and you are flat out wrong (frmwaydwntwn1212) . Fan frustration always exists when that individual fan’s expectations are not achieved. It is easy and safe to talk expectations from the stands. To actually step up and deliver results from the bench is a much different challenge.

Agree that Stauffer played great and was the difference in the game. But where was the effort from Conner in the second half? (Ryle 34 to 11 in the second half)
-
Disagree with this 100%. Defenders were not in straight up and down stance. Last nite they were leaving thier feet trying to swat the ball, lunging forward and allowing McNeil to maintain his pivot foot and get under them. We've heard this all year long...yet the 8th and 9th region ref's call the fouls. I went into to this game thinking we had better guards (2 Freshman) and the game didn't change my mind. WV's dribble drive gave Ryle fits. Congrats on the win and good luck in your district !!! It's a tough one.

It was a great game to watch! McNeil played really well. I'm certain that the opposing team is trying to stop McNeil. The three 9th region teams that Walton has played haven't been able to stop him.

From a WV's fan opinion the WV's coaches were not out of control. Yes they do make comments just as the opposing coaches make comments. In a game like this one a warning should have been given. There was no warning. This piticular ref gave out both technicals in the game. Good ref's administer the game, give warnings where it's needed and give technicals only if things persist after the warning. WV's head coach was trying to call a timeout when WV was trying to get the ball up the floor under pressure. He was screaming loudly for the timeout. I think the ref's need to anticipate those types of situations in the game and take a glance at the bench and the coach.

This game was very exciting!!! The technical in regulation against Walton with 1 minute to play was a critical call and a big momentum changer. I personally don't think the Walton coach deserved it but it changed the game.

I can understand some frustration that an opposing team can have for a very good Freshman that takes it to the basket hard. How about playing better defense and keeping this good Freshman out of the lane instead of complaining about contact & fouls. I'm pretty sure the scouting reports will tell you this !! -

The officiating was bad both ways and in both games. Refs are part of the game like it or not. To comment that the game was called in either teams favor is inaccurate. To assume that others in the stands see it the same way, is not fair to those professionals. If Walton got more calls than Highlands, it was because they had to (and did) become more aggressive in taking the ball to the hole when Highlands switched to a man-to-man defense. -

McNeil is trying to draw the foul...no doubt about it. 8th region refs overall aren't very good. It's not the contact fouls that make me shake my head... It's the calls out of position, out of their area, and the simple calls that make me wonder if they every played the game of basketball game. It's not a pre curser to success but I believe the more you have played the game whether a player, coach or ref the more the game slows down for you. Qryche.... in your opinion overall how are the ref's in the 9th and 10th regions? -

Walton's player numbers are down in the Junior (1) and Sophmore classes (4). In a small school it's pretty easy to know where the talent is (Freshman and 8th grade classes). This is probably why Coach Trame is mixing the current seniors with the younger talent. -

What 2 boys are you talking about ????? There are no boys I can recall enrolled in Walton that are difference makers. -

I agree the other schools might be traditionally better in past years but this year 4 out the 5 losses Walton was in control and could not finish. Hopefully by the end of the season they can learn to capitalize on thier opportunities at the end of each game. -

Another game if Walton hits it's free throws and takes care of the ball it could have won. -

There were two things that the Grant County student section were chanting that were over the line. The Walton Principal address it quickly and put a stop to it! -

It's heated district game! In past games both student sections have had signs with very personal messages on them. My guess is that Walton wanted to stop all that.
