There are plenty of people out there that do those jobs, plus other gigs like Homebound, who aren't coaches...or in particular; not football coaches. Funny thing is; nobody cares then. Nobody cares if Betty Jo English teacher that goes home after school everyday is anything less than excellent; let that be Bobby Joe Social Studies teacher that's less than stellar and it's all the sudden an issue. Let's not forget about administration, either. I don't know many administrators out there...especially those who have less than 10-15 years in (which is more and more prevalent these days because obtaining your "principalship" is no longer only available just as a Rank 1/2nd Masters; it's obtainable as a Masters) say that they got into admin because they just loved being in the classroom so much. That's the biggest pink elephant in the room that nobody can say.

The Safe Crisis Management end of using physical restraint isn't striking a student; in laymen's terms it's legal "moves" if you will used to restrain a student if they are in dangers of injuring themselves, other students/staff and-or school property. The whole realm of SCM is prevention, non physical, physical & post incident therapy counseling you could say. Throwing a chair, computer in a room full of students (or maybe throwing a chair, grabbing a computer and throwing it across the room in a room with just one or two teachers that are trying to diffuse the situation which is also under the SCM umbrella)? Check. Fighting another student? Check. Hitting themselves (yes, this happens)? Trying to break out a window (yes, this happens as well)? Check. I could list a myriad of examples, but you get the idea G.

Had Rush Probst been just an English teacher at Hoover HS, nobody would have cared about the double life he was leading. If that doesn't do anything to answer the question?

Proper and completely legal restraints that are Safe Crisis Management happen all over. I'm hoping it was just that. From the sounds of it; that's all it was. Anytime a student is deemed a danger (cause harm) to 1) themselves 2) others 3) school property then these are perfectly legal to enforce.

If Billy Gillespie was winning like Cal does at UK then not one person at UK would have cared how many 21 year olds he was hanging out with/taking home from Two Keys. Winning solves all.

To give the shortest, most accurate answer I know how...it works both ways. If you ask anybody who has ever been a head coach they will tell you the same. For those that have been in that role for many years; then they have seen both sides of that coin on numerous occasions. Being a high school head football coach is no different than any other "CEO" type role...there are your perks and your downsides. Now, the exact perks and downsides in and of themselves from other professions are different, but you still have them.

The biggest pink elephant response to "How to build a program", "change the culture", etc? WIN. Which, when you are at a place that's struggling; play people that suck worse than you. Everybody knows it. Everybody wants to do it. Nobody wants to say it.

Throwing in those four + Nelson and you get 14 pts/game. Add in Ballard & North Bullitt (7 games) & that's 20 ppg. Again, I don't know who deserves it. I mean, I have no clue...couldn't be further from the "goings on" in Buckner/LaGrange, but I think it's only fair to look at the total picture if we are going to start picking and choosing games. South Oldham was dropping points on everybody (including 55 on Pulaski in the semis), CAL is in the same boat (most notably 44 vs Central, 48 on Mayfield) & Shelby has been an offensive freak show in their own right the last two years with a 23-4 record to boot.

For arguments sake, if J'town and Nelson County are going to be discredited as I think we'd all agree Oldham is better than them; wouldn't it be wise to discredit the likes of CAL (state champions), South Oldham (5A Semis), Ballard (6A Top 10), etc who I think we'd all agree are on a much different level than Oldham right now as well?

So, this begs the question...who isnt in the mix that should be?

Chase Harp didn't apply. He was contacted by somebody there with Danville ties, but he's got it too good in Georgia as the OC at Glynn Academy. Lives on the coast (Brunswick, GA), has 5 periods of weightlifting (all football players are in there at some point throughout the day), his wife teaches at the high school as well.

It's everywhere. More getting out than getting into it, too....I would hope we'd see it dip below 40 this year for the first time in some 6-7 years, but I don't think we will & even if we do...it will continue to pick back up. Not to get off subject, but some friends and I were talking the other day are near retirement age, but of our combined 40 years of teaching and coaching since 2005 at nine different schools...we could only come up with TWO former players that have since gone into teaching/coaching in general (and, one of those USE to coach baseball...doesn't anymore...so, only ONE teacher/football coach).

No. Chase got out of the college rat race. He has been in Georgia the last three years. In 2014 he was at North Gwinnett with Bob Sphire, and the last two years he's been the Offensive Coordinator at Glynn Academy over on the coast. Last year they were beaten in the 6A (or 7A) State Finals. This year they made it all the way to the Region Finals. Shawn Jackson (current HC at McCracken County) was the OC at Glynn Academy...when he left for McCracken; Chase took over. They've been gashing people the last two years in the run game. I can't remember if he started doing it this year or when he first came to Glynn Academy, but he adopted Wofford College's "Wing Bone" (Gun Triple) and they were ripping people this year. Chase's former teammate at Danville, Nathan Fuqua, as you know is the Defensive Coordinator at Wofford.

Those bloodlines will work, too. Roni was a man! What was Roni's brother that was Franklin's QB...ended up going to WKU and having a great career...can't remember his name?

His daddy isn't James Robinson by chance is it? Maybe a relative? Western Hills had a James Robinson back in the mid-late 90's that played for them that was STILL one of the best athletes I've ever seen. Like @GCHS, I'm completely fine with him winning the award. That's what break away speed and "another gear" looks like. THAT.

For what it's worth, Meade County is a fellow 6A school that's almost the same size at GRC and they only have one middle school (Stuart Pepper MS). As you know; they have managed to play some pretty good ball over the years. But, I totally understand your point and it's more than valid.
