Spot on with all. John has come a long up front. Tackle play is solid, in the middle at their G-C-G spot has really been the work in progress. Those are the three spots lost from last years team. The last two games they have really come along. They've had other bright spots in the year in particular vs Central Hardin and Meade County. Physical is their game, and John seemed to win those two battles (which doesn't always happen vs those two squads. Always big. Always physical). Shelby is very athletic up front on D and across the board. It'll be interesting to see how this one shakes loose. It could be a shoot out and/or a game like last year in either way or with Shelby causing havoc wouldn't surprise me. John goes as the ball goes. The last two games they haven't turned it over one time. That's how their season has been; it's either been turn it over none at all or turn it over in bunches.

Sensitive? Defensive? Not exactly. Finding it comical that so many egotistical coaches posing as fans that come on here to talk noise like that; yes. You said? Really? Nice slip up Skilld-Kid,err Fly Guy. As for the 2-300 more yards than Franklin? Check. It was 564/328. Advantage John by almost 250. End of discussion.

Here is hoping for a good game. Shelby has plenty of talent, let's not get that twisted. Teams don't get this far without some dudes. John's QB was throwing some strikes vs those Flyers a couple weeks ago also on their way to almost a 600 yard offensive performance which included four guys rushing for over 100 yards and their QB threw for over 100 & two TD's (8/11). Such a poorly coached team I tell ya.

At least, that's the asylums I've known most all to go to and many aren't waiting near as long to permanently retreat to them either. Lol Wishing the best of luck to Coach Koontz, though. He's long been a very respected (and, deservedly so) fixture in the 5th region football world.

BOTH 23 and 11 for Spencer ran the fastest 40 times at the U.K. Senior Day camp this summer of all attendees there; 4.61 laser timed. They must continue to improve up front on both sides as the weeks move on (as is the case for all hoping to advance in the coming weeks), but I just wanted to point out that the speed/acceleration at which the guys from Spencer were going in hitting those holes wasn't exactly slow motion.

Christian County is every bit as talented as BG is well. I said something earlier after they played John that they were a "freak show" in that department, and they are IMO. I'd love to be watching this game right now. Two great programs.

Great game. John played well. Mike Marksberry, and his boys from Spencer County are a dang good program and first class all around.

I'm not sure what it is with the refereeing. I've seen games this year when there weren't 3-4 total flags thrown (which are the best, because only things that are blatant are called), then I've seen others (involving one of the same teams) where there were 20+ flags thrown on both........guys just LOOKING for stuff to call.

That's been my belief as well. Oddly though, as you well know coach, in the semis it doesn't matter the seed. Even year, odd year system prevails (no issues with it).

So many programs (home and visitor) cash in some serious bucks off these Region and semifinals. No matter the distance. They both cash in (gates are split bt both schools after expenses paid to refs, all emergency personnel, clock keeper, ticket takers, etc). Also, I'm not so sure some of these small colleges would be big enough to take on the crowds. Take Campbellsville U that doesn't have a visitor side (they do have some small end zone bleachers) and a home side that would be comparable to Lawrence County. Couple that with no track to stand around and you run into crowd issues. Same for Lindsey Wilson. Their home side really isn't all that big at all in terms of what it seats. The window dressing and architecture around it is nice, but the stands themselves aren't all that impressive in terms of capacity. They do have a track, but to my knowledge they don't allow spectators even at their games to stand around it (their visitor side is a common high school visitor side). If these places could cut the schools a cheap deal and not rob them, plus be a little lenient on allowing the crowds that would follow then maybe. Personally, I love those rounds of games being played at the home team's location. The crowds are always massive with everybody from both communities usually showing up PLUS the crowds from surrounding areas that have interest in it. If both schools agree to a neutral site then fine. Mandated? No. I remember in 1992 Paducah Tilghman and South Oldham hooked up in the 3A West Semis. The game was to be played at South Oldham who had all World running back Donnell Gordon (went onto play for both UL and U.K.). That whole week the weather had been crappy, so South Oldham opted to see if Tilghman wanted to play at Old Cardinal Stadium. Well, Tilghman had this guy by the name of Billy Jack Haskins playing QB for them and they were slinging it all over the yard, so OF course they took South Oldham up on that idea. Had South Oldham not chosen to move the game and use their home field advantage in more ways than one (they pounded the rock with Gordon) , South Oldham probably wins? Instead. The game was moved to the turf, PT wins. It was pretty common practice back in the day for Louisville area teams to use old Cardinal Stadium for those rounds. That 92 game, T and X almost always used to play there. 91 X and North Hardin semis come to mind as well as the 94 T and North Hardin semis. (Truth be told, I'm not even sure both teams had to agree. It was maybe just the home team). I say bust it as is.

I copied this from the thread when he was hired. Needless to say; a pretty solid resume and then some. The Cardinals introduced former University of Kentucky offensive lineman Mike Riddle as coach this morning at the school. Riddle lettered for four seasons with the Wildcats (1995-98) and was named Scout Team Player of the Year in 1998. Riddle played under Bill Curry and Hal Mumme at Kentucky and was on the team’s 1998 squad that lost to Penn State in the Outback Bowl. Riddle coached under Curry at Georgia State for five seasons and was Curry’s offensive line coach before Curry announced his retirement at the end of the 2012 season. Following his career at Kentucky, Riddle was an assistant coach at Colerain High School in Cincinnati and Lexington Catholic High School in Lexington. He also was a graduate assistant coach and offensive quality control assistant at Indiana University.

My man. First class right there and makes all the sense in the world on the surface. I'm going to go back and dive into it even more, but this looks amazing.

Had a three year stretch from 2013-2015 where they went 5-28. Looking at the roster this year they looked to have 20 juniors and seniors. Here is guessing many, if not ALL of those kids started and/or saw significant playing time when they were each freshmen and sophomores? Kudos to the administration for seeing that there was light at the end of the tunnel in letting Coach Sizemore do his thing. My hat is off to them, him, his staff and the players for staying the course. Great to see.
