  1. Agreed, and for what it's worth...had he taken the Adair job he'd have been there 4th in 9 years. You said it all.
  2. This will be their 5th coach in 9 years. Agreed on the hire if true...Jason will be more than a solid hire. For what it's worth; he was offered by Adair. So many of these "county" schools, especially in their area, have had lots of turnover. It's hard to build/expect much when places are looking at having 3-5 coaches (or more) within the last decade (or less).
  3. Lou. Holy Cross Cougars stole a page from their college brother from another mother; Washington State. Both "Cougars", and both spelling out the initials of their school(s) w/in their Cougar head. Style points granted.
  4. Harrison County using the outline of their county (w/ their number inside it). I can dig it. Different.
  5. It's a very dilapidated thing. You're onto something....I'm not sure they make one bit of difference either. Dad has all, but quit using them.....until he was talked into buying this Thunder Chicken thing by his buddies who swore by it. I know he didn't have it Monday morning when he got his first one this year.
  6. They've had the paw for a long time; as in I can remember them using it back in the 80's. They've gone bt and the Green Bay "G" look for years. Dog, cat, doesn't matter to me. Then again, I've never understood why the Philadelphia style eagle wings are only used by teams that are "Eagles"; Falcons fly, Cardinals fly, Hawks fly, Ravens, etc. They all have wings. Lol
  7. Spin.....you and my dad sound the sameway....he doesn't even care if he kills one or not anymore. With that said, he got one Monday morning (when I couldn't go ironically enough); even though he told me all day that he came away empty......lol. He finally told me Tuesday after we came away empty after working this bird that pitched down probably 75 yards from me that morning, but he got henned up ASAP.....then we went back to working him...but, I came away empty (I had to get to work). I've had a couple of close calls so far....nothing yet. I'm going before work tomorrow just myself then he and I are going to hit it up again Saturday and Sunday morn if it's not a complete wash out. Side note....have you seen those "Funky Chicken" decoys? Looks like a Gobbler on crack to be quite honest. Anyway....the reason I ask is I'm not so sure it didn't spook one off opening morning down close to LBL where dad lives. This bird gobbled on the roost, then we he got down on the ground a couple times.....after that he came in "stealth" mode. He got within 35 yards of us.....I could barely see him through some brush and trees. Dad didn't see him until he started "putting" away. Anyway....I didn't move...and, I'm not so sure he didn't see that "Funky Chicken" decoy (we had a couple hen decoys out too) and it scare him off? I'm empty so far, but there has been a couple of fun hunts.
  8. I understand all of that. Fully aware......played all through high school and college and coaching. I'm not for or against. Like everything out there; it all has it's purpose(s).
  9. The big elephant in the room that it 90% (or more) of the equation. :lol2:
  10. "Camp" used to have a "FUN" element to it. Get off the bus Sunday evening, practice one good time just your team, and then the rest of the week was either scrimmage against somebody every time you went out and/or Indy/Group time stuff fit in against other teams during practice. Haul off for 3-4 days just to go practice against yourself? Ehhhhhhh. I know, I know....."team bonding" and all of those other things, but the way some of these places are charging now for 3-4 days is a lot of coin for "team bonding" (as in the cost of a set of new uniforms/ a boat load of helmets and/or other equipment) is a bit high (especially at some of the universities). Once scrimmages got cut out; you started seeing more people fall off going to camp or so it seems? Two-A-Day's and Spring Practice..... Are what they are in the grand scheme of things IMO. Back the season up a week most definitely (last weekend of August) for reasons said above.
  11. Hopefully whomever ends up losing out will be a "team player", and take on their new role...which seems it would be the case just from reading what's here. A wise man once told me (former HS QB, QB all through college, successful HS coach in KY) "If you're the 5th best offensive linemen; you start. If you're the 2nd/3rd best RB; you start. If you're a top 2-4 TE/WR; you start. If you're the 2nd best QB? You sit the bench. Learn to play & be ok with other positions." AKA, "Don't put all of your eggs in one basket." (**Not that any of that is earth shattering reality, but when you sit back-look at it in how it was said**)
  12. I've quit even trying to pretend to be upset about marijuana charges.
  13. ...and, oddly enough did well once they returned. What was it..07, 08, 09 or right in there when Austin Peay shared the regular season OVC football title? Granted, they've had their share of rough times the last few years, but they went obsolete then bounced backed after getting back in. Ironically enough; I can remember them losing in '03 and '04 to Campbellsville University in football when they were part of the 1-AA non-scholarship, err "D1" as it's sold nowadays.
  14. I love them all (styles of play), but the pass (no pun intended) that "spread" teams get absolutely is comical these days (and, I get it...somewhat..it's what people see on tv). But, you're right and it's just not at PT. Go .500 or be absolutely horrid out of the "spread", and it's ok. Have those same results under center, old school Wing T, Wishbone, etc? All hell breaks loose. I even see it with good programs/teams in years; Go 8-4,10-2 out of the "spread"? Nothing said. Be "old school" and do that? Experts out the wazoo on how they "could've won", "been better", etc if said team had been running a different offense. They'll be just fine and then some IMO. (This post isn't directed towards you; I've had the same worry, but I'm really pulling for him to prove all those people wrong)
  15. To my knowledge he wasn't; early-mid 60's. I think it's more towards the early side.
  16. I'm a fan of this look. It's close to one of, if not my all time favorite UK look when Curry was there in the 90's. That blue/white look with a touch of black being used as the decals/number outline and black mask on a white helmet?! The only thing I'd change here is that the E is royal, but outlined in black. Same for the stripes down the helmet. That one is tough to beat. Oh, and it's Danville then everybody else.
  17. Cool thread. I have a "Bullitt East 7v7 Tournament Champion" shirt from 2000 that is purple w/ gold lettering; which is actually the year I graduated...so, it wasn't "mine" per say. I think I stole it from my dad. The lettering it cracked, and their is a tear under one of the sleeves by my right armpit. The best part? It's an XL that actually fits and looks good now. :lol2: (so says my wife. All the approval I need right?) I lost one last summer at Lake Cumberland out in front of Grider Hill boat dock (it had turned into a worn out cut off and I had it off tucked in the back of my shorts) that would be 20 years old next fall. It was an "All Area" football shirt from my high school days. But, if there were ever a place to "bury" one.....that lake and that dock area of it is the place.
  18. All are correct about his background. He was at Fort Knox in the 80's and '90, and was obviously part of their state title teams. He then went to LaRue County in '91, and was part of their lone region title team. He stayed at LaRue through the '95 season & then went to Elizabethtown in 1996. He spent his time there both with the high school and middle school programs. He was with Jack Haskins in 2007 on their state runner up team before heading to Murray in 08 when he started his very successful tenure as the head coach of the Tigers.
