  1. Absolutely knock out hire.....everybody knows his coaching skills, but he's as first rate of a guy as you can find. Something I also think should be noted in this day and age, but he wants kids 'playing them all'. In a day of specialization where some pull the selfish (just play my sport) card; he is everything but that. Took a break...now he's back. Rock it out JS.
  2. People understand it, but it's not PC to admit it my friend. You nailed it.
  3. If they keep it in the spring like it is now as a club sport (I think is what it is?); I don't think it will (or so I hope). I know in the mid Atlantic states it's in the spring & is full of football kids from the handful of of places I know of.
  4. Agreed, but to do it like college & NFL (and, they start the week after Labor Day)? C'mon...that makes too much sense (insert sarcasm. With that said; school starting at/around/even before August 1st has pushed the fall sports start date up...or had a lot to do with it). The rest? Arguments for and against.....the most strongly I feel about is when the season ends; keep it the 1st week of December. That's not actually all new; it seems like the state finals have been played the week after Thanksgiving for around 30 years or so now.
  5. I very well could be wrong, but I don't think several of the last five have taught in the district and/or building and maybe none.
  6. That's what got me in trouble for a few until I went from feeling like "WTH?!"...then had that ah-ha moment. Lol I finished with 35 I think is what it was. 35/58
  7. Hoover HS in Alabama (yes; the "Two-A-Days and National power Hoover) uses this same 'H' logo now, and have for the last several years, also.
  8. That was it! Lincoln. The only time Lincoln has beat Danville I believe. At least I got one right. Lol
  9. This being a football thread; baseball nor basketball crossed my mind. Then again; baseball rarely does as is unless family is playing, but I can understand/respect those that like watching and keeping up w/ it. Different animal there.
  10. Doesn't matter to me one bit. If I want to see and/or know about a kid....as a fan..I just search them (and/or their team) on Hudl and you can see all you need to know. These young cats will have their season highlight updated two hours after their most recent game from that Friday night is uploaded to Hudl. Lol As a coach? You see all you need to see through film trade.
  11. The infamous 0-3 out of the gates that lead to the "For Sale" signs in his front yard. St. X, Henry Clay and Somerset wasn't it? Sure glad that season turned around and his house didn't sell.
  12. Danville lost to Somerset in the 88 Region Finals. I think Coach French had already gone to Meade by 88?!
  13. Marty coached Lincoln to the Class 3A finals in '93; left Lincoln after the '96 season to go to Danville as an assistant in '97 and he was the Offensive Coordinator for the ADS from 98-04...went to Mercer in 2005 and went 10-2 the first year (pre-merger; where they won their first playoff game in almost 20 years since Coach French left for Meade County in the mid-late 80's). Marty was only a HC for 10 years (Lincoln & Mercer), but won 80 something games & made it to 5 region titles; winning two of them. Lincoln was VERY good in 07 under French; he did an amazing job bringing them back. Some other tidbits of info while he was there is that current Allen County-Scottsville and Danville head coaches Brad Hood & Clay Clevenger were his offensive coordinators there. I always love knowing the coaching tree/connections.
  14. Chris was the the Defensive Coordinator at Nelson County in 2015. Best of luck to Coach Engstrand and the Dawgs!!!!!!!!!!!! Coach Engstrand came over from Ballard in January to John Hardin when he was hired as the new offensive coordinator for John (when former OC and father of HC Chad Lewis; Mike Lewis retired after 40 years of coaching in the state) as well as taking a teaching position in the building.
  15. Their game with Franklin-Simpson was an all out battle for a half. I think it was maybe 7-0 at half? FS just wore them down...skill, linemen and depth took over.
  16. You don't go to an orthopedic to diagnose a cold or the flu; don't go to a pediatrician/gen practioner to diagnose an ankle injury. With many programs out there that have athletic trainers; the athletes and their parents can get right into see them through their school's AT, but even still...they'll go through the other route & will take their (ped/gen pract) word as gold.
  17. Not to sidetrack, but the best UK football look ever were in Curry's last few years. Those white helmets, black masks...the power 'K' in blue and outlined in black just like the stripe going down the middle. Ahhhh...the good ole' days! You said it; LexCath and also Bell County copied their looks right after UK then and on after it seemed for a while (at least the helmet).
  18. Building a brand new multi-million dollar facility themselves aren't they? Tough spot, though...5A District with BG, South Warren, Greenwood & Grayson County only to be paired up in a region with Owensboro, Christian County, Graves, etc.
  19. Georgia. One of those #extendeddaypay states. Georgia gets a one week dead period; usually the week of the 4th.
  20. On some occasions, but I'd say it's a pretty safe assumption that the the basketball players at all the SEC schools other than UK.....the guys who are Sophs, Juniors, Seniors (and, those who have been redshirted in those classes) for the most part; have probably worked a whole hell of a lot harder in their time(s) on campus than those 5* freshmen who are rolling in there from high school/AAU glory days. That saying is one that makes everybody feel all warm and fuzzy inside more than it is actual reality......I've also never heard the missing piece to that saying; what happens when talent works hard and why is it implied that talent doesn't work hard? It's kind of like the Snickers commercial guy.... "There is No 'I' in team." "...ain't no 'We' either." :lol2: Having fun.....good topic.
  21. I agree, and there is also an endzone section to the right of that picture that can't be seen...I think it would be the absolute perfect venue (if they wanted it).
